This topic is funny I just bought some yesterday at this store in Plantation, Florida. I am just about to apply it to my stick now. It has a gritty texture to it, which is nice if you like the polarfibre. (But this tape is much grittier.)

Edit: It reminds me of guaze, which I am led to believe that it is just with some adhesive on it.

Spyrakos - I have some left I think. It's not the same as the Powerflex, it's actually made by Sportstape.

PM me and I'll check in a couple of days if I have any left.

I don't know what the pros use, but I've tried a gauze tape called Unique that's made for raquet sports and "looks" a lot like the light blue stuff you see some of the pros using. It's not bad and a little sitckier than standard gauze tape, but make sure you leave a bit off to the side of the roll when you tear it - I've wasted a few rolls when I couldn't find the damn end! Some of the Leafs (Roberts and Fitzgerald) use a royal blue gauze tape that's REALLY sticky - saw it on their sticks at the ACC. I've never been able to find that stuff in stores, but it's probably not such a bad thing cause it looks like it'd destroy your top hand palm in a hurry. Right now, I'm using standard LHS gauze tape and that seems to work fine.

Very true, I was talking to JR about this tape and he says that it eats your palms up fast. Thank God for the MSH glove sale. ;)

The greatest is the crying that will come out of New York WHEN the Yankees lose to the Red Sox when it counts.

I will be dead but the whaling will wake me to a joyous drunken state :)

you are absolutely right, it will quickly destroy your gloves. The first time I tried it out, my glove hand holding the butt end was completely blue :(

The super sticky adhesive comes off really easy, its really annoying.

One recommendation you may want to try is Wilson or Prince tennis/squash racket grip tape. They are pretty tacky and about $5 CDN for 3 grips.

To avoid that try to make the butt end out of regular white tape. The rest can be what ever type of tape you like. I find that most of the wear occurs at the end of the stick. Using the most "friendly" tape for gloves helps in that area. The rest of the tape job can be what ever.

tennis tape, the stuff that is on the handle of the racket, is sick as a top grip. ive been using it for almost a year now its incredible. the only problem is it takes a bit to get used to because its a bit thicker than white tape. definately extremely grippy though, and really comfortable. doesnt eat palms either.

Thats tourna grip, its mostly for tennis and such. I should buy a roll next time and try it out.

I was messing around in my house with my gloves on and the tape is already starting to eat away at my gloves. I like the feel of the tape, usually when I use black tape my hand gets stuck to the stick. I guess thats the price you pay.

This the tape you are looking for?

griptape.JPG

That stuff absolutely killed the nash palm on my CCM's in about 10games. Hurts palm durabilty, but the grip it gives is unmatched...
