I had an 02 model and that was the best shaft I had ever used. The grip was amazing and it broke almost a year into its life at the taper. I got an 03 and hated it, but perhaps the 04's are better. Good luck with the Z-bubble.

In the last 6 months or so, I know 3 people who have bought and used Z-Bubbles - and all of them broke inside of 2 months use. They were all '03 models (as they are the current model available in the UK), and broke at the taper point.

I'd recommend an Ultralite or a Griplite for durability, and the performance drop probably won't be that noticeable...

My green zbubble has been great. It's lasted more than 2 seasons so far, playing 3 times a week.

The green ones are indeed tanks. I've an original one for about 6 years and its still in one piece.

My grip Z-bubble lasted me almost a year. I used it for Ice, Roller, and Dek hockey and it took a beating. Finally broke in the taper zone a few months ago. Very reliable IMO.

I see a lot of snapped Synergies and Z-Bubble shafts in the garbage cans at our rinks. I also see them snap a lot during games. For some reason, the grip, silverish Z-bubbles seem to snap a lot.

The Synergies in the bin are usually snapped in the middle; I'm guessing that the ones that snap farther down are re-used by inserting a blade.

The Z-Bubble shafts that are in the bins are usually half-broken where the tapering flares back out to standard width to fit the standard blades.

I got a green Z-Bubble shaft from the garbage can that was broken that way, sawed off and squared up the shaft where the flaring begins, and inserted a T-Flex blade. I have heard the term "T-Bubble" to describe this fix. It is an 85-flex and works great, very durable this way so far. So, if you go with the Z-Bubble because you like the lower flex zone etc. and it breaks at the usual point, there is a way to continue using it afterwards.

I think that R2 blades are roughly the same dimensions, cross-section-wise, as the T-Flex blades - somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

r2's are ok. if they had some better patterns i'd use them over the synthesis

Shanny is about the only one TPS is missing.

Same with me, It's the only shaft I go back to and use. The green one's. I had the first Grip Z-bubble it snapped 1 month in so I got another Green one as my replacement. I currently have 2 and have'nt had to touch the other yet in almost 5 yrs at playing 1-2 times a week. But I don't recommend it if you're going to be hacking alot.

I snapped the green ones very quickly and I dont hack and slash. Neither one lasted more than a week or so.
