Easton Phantom?

Recommended Posts

I've seen a "mystery shaft" at local hockey and sports stores lately, a shaft called Easton Phantom. It's orange colored like a Si-Core, and it appears to be a youth or junior sized shaft. I can't find any info at all about this stick, not on Easton's official site and not even on Google (all I get then is a baseball bat with the same name). Anyone seen this or even heard of it?

I didn't really pay much attention to it, didn't pick it up etc, since it's a youth or junior stick, but it was just weird that I can't find it on their site or even on Google. But next time I go to a store that carries them I'll take a closer look, and also see how much they are. But my guess right now is that it's some sort of price point shaft like an Octane or something. I'll get back to this matter though when I've actually held one and checked it out.

i saw it at one of my hockey shops...

and it is a junior stick...

i think the guy that owned the store said something about being similar to a broken synergy for kids...

Petey was this the shaft?

I know you said it was a junior or youth shaft, but this might be a prototype as well.

I don't think that's it, they sell those at wal-mart and they're called something like 9001 or something. I tried one once, it was similar to an ultra carbon.

Close... It's the Easton 9001 Carbon. It is the same as last year's Easton Ultra Carbon only in a spiffy orange colour so you can fool the unsuspecting onlookers into thinking you spent lots of money on your sticks. For those who like the old Ultra Carbon as it was (before ABS was used in its construction) it should suffice. But I really don't know anyone who 'likes' the Easton Ultra Carbon...

It looks similar, same color and same type of plastic plug, but I didn't think of looking at the weight, performance and wear info, just happened to see the name when I saw them. I'll have to go back and take a closer look at them.

My friend had one of those shafts. At first i thought it was a broken sicore but it is a ultra carbon. They are extremly heavy and i assume they are made of fibreglass.

Whats the deal with the 9.5 preformance?

The orange paint makes it better.

actual use of carbon fiber = 3 hp increase

orange paint = 15hp increase

Okay I finally took my time and went to the store to take a closer look at these orange mystery shafts, and here's the info: Easton Phantom (jr model), Flex 50, Performance 6, Wear 6, Weight 295 grams and they were really cheap, costed about $38 (American) or $48 (Canadian).

I still think it's strange that they aren't to be found on the internet, neither on Easton's official site nor on Google even.
