Red Wings 2009-10 thread

Recommended Posts

I'm usually pretty optimistic about the wings (with good reason, considering I've seen four cups and six appearances since I was born) but I don't see this year going well. Too much working against us, coming off two straight short off seasons, then we head to sweden and back, which will set us back 2 weeks at least, and then 3/4 of the guys will probably be going to the Olympics. Not to mention we may be in the strongest division in hockey all of a sudden.

Plus for some reason Jimmy Howard is just not comfortable in an NHL net. I hope we lean fairly heavily on the youngsters and cut some ice time for Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom for most of the year.

I was really hoping with all the Swedes on the team the two Stockholm games would go really well. I came in late for both games, but I saw nothing but poor decisions and bad defensive plays with a touch of shaky goaltending.

I wouldn't look on those two games or the preseason as an omen for the season, but it's not exactly a good start. But for all we know they were tanked off their asses for those two games!

The Wings will be fine, I am not worried. I don't think they will be as strong as the past couple of years, with their forward lineup looking a little thinner being a main reason. They will still be a top contender in the west though, they are just too experienced and skilled to not do well. I wish they would have kept Samuelson though.

I've got faith in the Wings. Give them some time to solidify lines and let everyone get used to each other. They never seem to do very well right at the beginning of the season.

This is the first time I'm in the non-East Coast market (moved to MI after living in PA and Wash, DC) and I'm seeing my first wings game on local tv. I'm shocked by the amount of empty seats at the game... is this the norm?

Is it more of a money thing? As in too expensive or because, similar to the Lions in football not being able to sell out, people don't have the money to spend?

Actually a lot of them are bought seats that don't show.

Also, the arena doesn't really fill up until a few minutes left in the first, and starts to clear out part way into the third, especially when the score isn't tied.

It's funny that way.

Price out real fans and thats what your left with.

Lidstrom is 2 points away from his 1000th career point.

Well on the bright side we might get him back for the 2nd half of the season. Sucks he gets hurt before the Caps game though that would have been aswome to see him and Ovie.

A lot of people are saying he could be back after the Olympics. I just don't see how someone can make it back from a torn ACL in 5 months, it seems like that injury is usually minimum 8 months, if not more.

I hate Vs announcers almost as much as that Buffalo game. It didn't even feel like the Wings were outclassed so much as outworked and forgot to pick up their men.

Hey Wings fans, I was wondering if any of you guys or girls could help me out, I'm a big Zetterberg fan but live in Buffalo, so never really have the chance to see him. I tried when they were in town tuesday but he wouldn't sign for anyone, Is there anyone in detroit maybe who could help me out with getting a jersey number signed so I can have it put on my jersey? any help would be great!

As if he needed one more reason for instant HOF induction.
