I caught the Rangers game on the center ice preview and I have one question, what is up with the advertisements on the end wall glass? Do they get in the way of the seats behind in the stadium? It annoyed me and I was just watching on tv.

I have not been to any games this season, but i am assuming the technology behind those adds is the same as the line of scrimmage and the 1st down line. People there don't see it, just computer generated.

It's superimposed - next time, watch someone get hit into the glass. The ad doesn't move.

I had a friend of mine who went to a football game with his girlfriend. She wanted to know where the yellow first down line was.

Eventually, you're going to see ads superimposed on the ice, field, court or diamond when you watch any sport. It's three to five years away from hitting major sports in the US.

MSG started that last year in the playoffs. I actually hate it. my eye is drawn to it so quickly that i end up staring at it instead of the game. The funny thing is that most of the time, it's just advertising Cablevision IO so it seems they may not be getting companys buying that spot. Also whats interesting is that if you watch Rangers in 60, the ad isn't there.

In lots of MLB games...when you see the replays the box 'ad' behind homeplate is just the chromo-key green (or blue) they don't superimpose the ad into the replay...just the live.

I hate the superimposed scoreboard on Global or CTV during NFL games...They just look fake. C'mon...like some local Canadian pizza joint bought ads at The Meadowlands!

At least the baseball ones are well placed and look real.

I saw them do Subway last year.

Actually a few years back during the sweep series against the Thrashers, there were superimposed ads too. They were removed after only 2 games I think however, massive complaints.

It bothers me to no end.

The placement during that series was horrible. 'HUMMER' was wrapped it around the corners instead of where they are now, behind the net. Personally, im not a fan. I also hate the LED ads on the boards.

Yeah, it's like that in Europe.

do they do it with rugby? I can remember watching Setanta and seeing a rugby match with quite a few ads on the field that didn't look painted.

That sucks. I'd rather the ice (or field) not be as busy, makes games (esp hockey) easier to follow. Does the image block anything? The MSG ads are high on the glass, but on the ice it could black the puck or a part of a player/play etc (For us at home).

true. during the playoffs, there was a sportsnet banner, and i said to myself, i said: "why in the hell would they drop advertising dollars in yankee stadium"

BAHAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!

As a Ranger fan, the fact that my team has no offensive drive, bothers me way too much to worry about the ads. ....But yea the ones on the glass do suck. THank God MSG had no LED ads on the boards. I REALLY hate those. Surprisingly for such a small, "ghetto" arena, the Islanders' Nassau Coliseum has LED ads....SMH
