Mission L-2 Shaft as an ice stick

Recommended Posts

I saw some postings in the rollerhockey equipment area, any likes or dislikes with the Mission L-2 shaft as an ice stick? I'm considering changing from the Flyweight (meta). Right now, I'm using an Easton hybrid synthesis blade with a LH sakic curve. Any reason to go with a Mission blade?

You do realize that pretty much all sticks are designed for ice hockey right? Just because its made by mission doesnt make it a roller hockey stick.

Yes, I realize this point. But since I have only read about the L-2 in the rollerhockey equipment area on MSH and haven't played roller hockey, I wanted to get some perspectives of ice hockey players in the icehockey equipment area.

I'll broaden my question, If anyone has any likes of dislikes with the Mission L-2 shaft, I'd appreciate your insights.

I don't really understand why you would think the l-2 is a "roller" stick? But anyway, it's a great stick for ice, just as much as any other high end short-hoseled stick/ops.

I like the L-2 blades myself for ice, they have tons of pop and I found them to be a little more sensitive than other composite blades. They're a pretty lively blade even for a composite. It was my favorite stick/blade combo until I threw a fit due to a bad defensive play (by yours truly) and snapped it over my knee... smart.. Needless to say, I regret that idiotic tantrum.

I really like my L-2. I use it on ice...it has a nice kick, good feel, and is well balanced.

Good job by the way Jeremy ;)

I think he just meant opinions from a hockey player perspective. For example roller players could say the blade is crap because it cracks at the bottom. It will be different from concrete floor and ice.

dude, not many people play on concrete. What is with the idea that all inline players play on concrete? Most play on sport court. Something that cant really crack the bottom of blades....

I play on Sportcourt and I have had a Response Plus for seven months and the blade is not what im worried about breaking, its the shaft snapping. Sportcourt doesnt even wear down your blade either. As for the L-2 its a nice looking stick, but from what I have heard it isnt very well balanced. If anyone has an L-2 please tell how the balance is...

Well i know but anyone around here is on concrete and that was a bad example, maybe i should have thought of a better one. But I think you understand his and my point.

Ive tried 'em all and Ill tell ya what, the L-2 is the best STICK (not shaft, STICK) on the market. Low kick point and very well balanced (note I am using a easton synthesis blade in it). Reason Im not using the L-2 blade is that I didnt like the Hull patern that I received with it. For some reason Mission doesnt yet have the respect that it deserves in the industry but its coming. I wish that they had a grip in this stick so that I wouldnt have to "candy cane" the dang thing with tape. I once tried out Geki's Flyweight shaft with a t-flex comp blade and WOW did that thing have kick. Im gonna jump on my soap box for a second so bear with me......

I once asked someone (I believe it was graz ) "Do you ever think that someone could take easton's place as the leader in the composite stick market"? We determined that the company would have to beat easton to the punch with something new and innovative. Then the lightbulb went off in our heads. Mission did with the 1st ever tapered shaft/low connection point short hosel blade with the flyweight. This was out long before the synthesis or OPS. Unfortunately for mission, well, They are mission and nobody gives em the time of day (and this was years ago). Big ups to mission for beating everyone to the punch even though you all didnt get credit for it. Im done now, thanks for listening.

P.S> Geki I wish I couldve sen you break that stick
