MyBauer Sticks

Recommended Posts

So I just looked at it again because one of my friends told me the sticks weren't selling for their retail price anymore and sure enough, the X:60 price is $269.99, but then when I clicked the confirm order, it wouldn't let me change the country to United States, so are they only doing this for Canada now or is it just a screw up in their system right now? I'm assuming that $269.99 is also in CDN.

As I recall, country is one of the first things that you select before you start customizing a stick.

Nope, you pick your either the X:60 or One95 first, then you customize it, then you purchase and put in your shipping address and LHS you buy from.

Fail.

Start designing your stick => Country => Choose your stick

Did you just try it? If not I'm sending that FAIL right back at you. I've just done it twice now and I don't get anything about picking a country before choosing a stick.

Nope, you're driving the fail bus today. It's possible you have the country info saved in a cache or as a cookie in your browser.

That's gotta be it then, I just did a screen capture video to prove what I was seeing, haha. Not sure when or how I would have selected Canada though?

*It's definitely something other than it being saved in a cache or as a cookie, I just reset my browser and still was not prompted with choosing a country before I chose which stick to customize

For those of you who've gone through the ID/My Bauer program, what was the wait time on getting your stick, from when you ordered it to when it arrived? I placed an order just over a week ago, and am looking at a ballpark estimate.

I ordered mine on 3/15/09 and received it exactly 3 weeks to the day after order confirmation.

Look at the brightside, you set the bar for tomorrow rather low. :P

Did they lose some patterns ? I thought the ID program had a slightly open heel curve that had a low lie (close to the PM9); now the only low-lie patterns I see are the PM9 and a toe curve.

P72

5 lie, 1/2" fat/round toe, heel wedge

You had my hopes up, but I just double-checked the My Bauer web site and there's no P72 listed ?

EDIT: I just discovered that there are a lot more patterns (including the P72) available, but only for the One95 sticks. The X:60 has way fewer options.

I wonder why ?

EDIT #2. Now I see that the X:60 has at least one pattern (P92 lie 5) that is not available in the One95. Weird.

I think Bauer is phasing some of those patterns out. It appears that for the MyBauer X:60 that they are offering their retail patterns, European retail patterns (P02 and I think the P12 are offered over there) and popular I.D. patterns only. Likely makes very little business sense to make different molds and what not for patterns that don't sell much.

The P92L5 is a new patter for 2009/2010. There were rumors it would be on retail sticks as well, but I have yet to see it (although IceWarehouse had it for pre-order shortly for X:60 Grips in a 87-flex only). Again, since it is a new pattern, it likely is too expensive to make a new mold for it for the One95, which is an older stick...

Therefore, if you want an old pattern offered in the old I.D. Program, you likely have to go with the One95. The only patterns you will find for the X:60 are the retail patterns (NA and Euro), new patterns (like the P92L5) and popular patterns from the I.D. program like the P14 and P89.

Still, the changes for the customized program are good. The expanded the One95 by adding the 112-flex and different grips and although the blade patterns are limited for the X:60, it is still a solid program. I just wish they would add different lengths in the future. I would love a 63-inch, 112-flex One95 with a P02 pattern (lower lie though...another pipe dream!).

Maybe, but it seems to take some of the shine off the "custom" aspect of the program if you're stuck ordering from more or less a set of retail curves and after that, just picking colors and names. I don't know how much a mold costs, and maybe the returns indicated that nobody cared about the other patterns, but it seems half-done.

Too bad. I really want that P72, but I think the X:60 sounds like it would suit me a lot better than the One95.

Other than some Lindros One90s, I haven't used many Bauer/NBH sticks other than an Aaron Ward and Samsonov. I don't get all the grip variants but if anyone knows what the grip detail was on the Samsonov, I'm getting that.

Not to go completely OT here, but what where the Aaron Ward pro-stocks like??? I saw TSR had some 122-flex, which was really intriguing to me! The shallow depth and toe curve turned me off (I like deep heel curves; Lidstrom/P106 style), but the 122-flex had me thinking about it...

I would go with the stick that offers the curve you want and not the one that uses marketing to differentiate the sticks.

Pro stock Samsonov One95??? If it was the same as mine, the grip on it is like the Stick' um with no tactile. Mine were a bit stickier than the retail versions, although the new X60's is pretty close.

Sorry, but what is tactile grip? Is it the feel of the One95 blade?

It's a raised/bumpy surface on the corners of the shaft only, I love it. Was kind of bummed when I got a pro stock One95 and it didn't have the tactile.
