well as long as any mods dont have any problem, i would like to add some misc hockey equipment with pictures and stuff. i'd like to get rid of it all shortly, and hopefully people can respect it and not get greedy and let people who really need the stuff take it.

You may want to send a message to a mod.

Or have you looked in to local rinks? They may need some gear for kids, or to have on hand if someone forgets something at home. Also maybe a local Boys and Girls club would have use for for it.

It would be cool if there was a national program to donate gently used hockey gear specifically to try and help get less wealthy kids get interested in hockey. I think there may be regional versions out there in hockey hot beds, but I am not sure.

that would be really cool as we all know how expensive the sport is. well i could donate it to the rink i used to work at but the kids who work there now if they see something they like they will take it, i donated a pair of gloves 2 years ago that no longer fit me and i seen some guy wearing them in adult league that really didn't need them.

im looking to get rid of more than gear as well. i have unused various brand "under armor" type shirts that i got for free from work awhile ago that people could have and just other crap that is just sitting in my basement.

Yeah, that kind of ruins it eh?

As for your original idea, my best guess would be the sell section. But maybe a mod will chime in soon.

Maybe a "Free" section. Either in the BST forum area or else in a section anyone can access. That said... I know that even locally there are kids that would love to play but can't barely afford even used equipment. It might be worth looking into something locally as well through some form other than the rink itself?

I 2nd donating it to a hockey league or rink. Maybe look into one in an inner city or hockey depleted area. Down here in Houston, our local youth organization has a great donation program where you can buy/trade/donate equipment... it's great for getting new kids into hockey for cheap... kids can get completely outfitted for around $50 and then trade in for new stuff as they need it.

guess this will all have to wait for a mod.

To be honest, I think you would be seeing a lot of the stuff handed out here on ebay or in the sell section pretty quickly. Some of the things I've seen people do lately make me fear for the future of our society.

I would prefer to see gear actually passed on to youth organizations, like the one mentioned in this topic.

Its worth the trouble to get used equipment to the hockey programs that will get needy kids into it. In Toronto (Scarborough) there is an organization running out of Malvern arena-great guys who volunteer their time to introduce the game to needy kids. Always need equipment, there are kids not able to play house league because of equipment costs.

Call your local minor hockey league about where to donate equipment, if a program is running they should know.

The problem with that is some of us aren't small. I use large elbows and 16" shins, pants might be do-able since I ware a medium/large SR size but the elbows and shins are a little large for most people.

I tend to give my stuff away to people I know, as friend or in passing.
