Just took out Anderson on a drive via a collision. Could argue the hit either way but he did not try to get out of the way of Anderson like he should have.

Foote promptly kicked the shit out of him.

This play on its own is one thing but this as well as the one earlier.

Not sure but to me his lean towards Anderson was not caused by another useless hockey player named Clark.

Just my opinion though.

He made every attempt to drive the middle of the net and no attempt to avoid the goalie. While it may not have been intentional, it was certainly reckless and that was enough to condemn Ovechkin.

Ballard's penalty was for running Anderson.

Yes, Foote should have taken his gloves off but with Ballard's shield I dont blame him too much. I would rather players get their emotions out right away when these things happen then wait as it gets much worst.

Not trying to defend Foote but I can honestly say, in the same circumstance, I would do different.

Oh for those of you who are wondering ... I am an Avs fan and the announcers on the video are clearly from the Panthers.

Whatever Foote did was way worse than Ballard IMO. Ballard was sliding after the Dman put his stick near his skates/legs...and i don't give a shit about Ballard or the Panthers...or Colorado for that matter...I just don't see what the big deal is. If it was someone like Horton or whoever else on the Panthers that slid into Anderson and there wouldn't be a post about this...

The NHL has failed to protect goalies for a while now. You shouldn't be seeing guys run the goalie so often that this is a non-issue.

I get that they need to protect the goalies, I'm 100% for it, but he's clearly out of his crease on this one. What is Ballard suppose to do, cut to the middle? The players are not gonna break when they think they're getting close to the net, you don't have time to think about that, you have the puck, you have a guy on you, you're just thinking "skate and shoot the puck". The Dman was directly on him. Soon were gonna ask the players to not screen the goalies or get too close to "their zone". It's a tough one...but we don't want it to get too pussy like the quarterback rules in the NFL...don't touch the quarterback's head, don't even look at the quarterback.

In the video he barely touches him. How did that goaltender get so hurt from that? I got hit harder than that Christmas shopping at the mall...

I'm not saying he was thinking about it all the way up the ice. Just that way too many guys are taking out goalies on "innocent" drives to the net. Guys take every opportunity to make contact when they can.
