Right on, Chippa. Good thoughts.

You're probably right about Tikkanen, but I think Lemieux will be remembered as an enigma--both one of the best playoff leaders ever, but also for the Draper incident.

I'm actually pretty optimistic about the state of the game. It's the best there is, and, on the whole, it's made up of the best, most down to earth athletes around. I also think the skill level is as high as it has ever been and that the games are as entertaining as they have been in years. Let's just hope the league does a better job of helping the casual public to take note of that.

Otter cracks me up so I definately vote funny, plus over the past few seasons he has expanded his role on the ice becoming an awesome play maker. He is without a doubt my favorite player, which is probably why I have 2 Ott jerseys, 4 Ott t-shirts and a bunch of other Otter stuff. I have even had the privelage of meeting him serveral times, and he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet, i'll be meeting him again this coming thrusday, Otter rocks. :D

Thats part of hockey the way I see it. The pest player, the player you love to have on your team but hate to play against or hate in general if your team doesnt have one of those players..

Say what you will about Ott, Avery, Cooke, Ruutu, etc. but they can be very effective at accomplishing certain goals for the benefit of their club if they can toe the right side of that fine line.

Ask Mike Modano what he thinks of having those guys on his team. The answer may surprise you.

What is the Stars' identity this season? It appears nobody knows. Are they a high-flying offensive unit that can score goals and control the puck?

Are they a strong defensive team that has built a reputation for finishing in the top five in goals-against average?

Are they an agitating, annoying team led by Steve Ott and Sean Avery?

None of the above seems to be working.

Dallas tried the latter Saturday night, stirring up the Boston Bruins in a brawl-filled contest, and still found a way to lose, 5-1. By the end of the game, Avery and Ott were in the locker room with Matt Niskanen — all with 10-minute misconduct penalties — and a Bruins team that had scored four goals in its previous three games combined was celebrating like the record-setting Boston teams of the 1970s.

"Tonight, it was idiotic and stupid," Stars center Mike Modano said. "It was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen. If that's what we're going for, then they need to find me an off-ice job."

id take ott over modano anyday on my team...modano is a crybaby superstar who seriously bitches about everything. and hes got a crappy attitude to the fans who fill his wallet every season. zero respect for a guy like that. otters a badass and a great person of the ice aswell. definately good to have on your team. draws alot of penalties and makes a good play here and there to.

I'll have to mark this down as the first and last time I'll ever see anyone write that they would respect Ott over Modano.

Seriously. Did I log on to bizarro msh or something?!?!?!

Fans expect too much. I'm sure that Modano had a serious reason, and even if not what has Ott done that Modano hasnt for the team? Nothing. Fans or not, you still called the true leader of the stars a crybaby and put a worthless wannabe Sean Avery ahead of him..

So the face of the franchise is worth less than a goon who is expendable?

552 career goals for Modano. 52 career goals for Ott.

1348 career points for Modano. 132 career points for Ott.

Makes perfect sense...

I've met both Mike and Steve when they played a game up in Vancouver a few years ago. Steve is one of the nicest people I've ever met, and Mike was a little bit more uptight, but still classy and signed a few cards for me.

Modano may not know when to shut his trap or when to open it, but the guy can flat out play. More than Ott will ever be able to accomplish in his prime.
