Most worn out piece of equipment you can't do without

Recommended Posts

Well, what piece of your equipment is most used up (battered gloves, skates about to fall apart from abuse, etc.), but somehow you don't want to get rid of it or replace? Feel free to post pics, too.

I had 10 year old Bauer skates up until last week. One of my helmets, (Bauer) is close to 10 years old also. Other than that, I like to keep it fresh to death. I usually by 2-3 pairs of hockey pants per season.

I have a pair of Jofa shoulder pads that are really old, I can't bring myself to replace them because they are light and they don't restrict my movement.

Elbows (6K), pants (One70) and jock (3K) all about 2 years old. All in great condition, outside the gross yellowing of the elbows. I just need a second pair of all 3 and an extra bag to have 2 sets of equipment.

Titan ASD200 stick - it's in the cupboard, wont ever throw it away.

Easton Ultra-Lite Pro gloves - getting them repalmed and stitched up, but probably wont use them as I have some new gloves on order -but I just wanted my Eastons looking nice!

Jofa 1439 elbow pads, circa 1994 or 1995. The straps are all stretched out so I have to tape them on, but they are way more comfortable than anything else I have tried.

None of my stuff is that old, but I anticipate my Pro 5000s becoming that piece of gear. I've already had to put on new velcro and straps to keep the zippers closed.

my shoulder pads

junior large, easton black maxx smu from docksteaders.. i got them dec 2004 when i started playing hockey and i will never get rid of them. the right bicep guard is gone but i refuse to change it.

It's perfect, the neck cut isn't so high up that it feels like it's strangling me, it's basically a 5030 sherwood pad with slightly bigger caps and a strip of plastic for the sternum and a piece of thin plastic for the spine. If I ever did have to change though I'd probably move over to 5030's or have a go at the Cooper SMU's at Crappy Tire.

I like new stuff too much to ever get to that point.

Me too, except for this old pair of shin's I bought at Play it Again for $15 bucks. They fit like they were custom made for me & I can't imagine ever wanting to replace them.

I've got a pair of old Supreme shins I still wear. They are 8 or 9 years old. Most stuff gets replaced more often because I get bored and want to try something new out.

My jock and my Vic Air Tec Shin guards. I have a pair of Nike Bauer pro defender shins on ice ( had them about 10 months lol ) but I cant bring myself to break them in. My Air Tecs are too rad.

If all my gear was lost, I'd be way too excited picking out new gear...I'm a gear whoor.

Although I'd probably miss my 7k Sickick...perfect flex.

I have an XN10 Redlite shaft that has seen a lot of abuse and wear. Parts of the lower shaft seem like they're more black than red. When it finally breaks, I'm gonna cut it down and make a little stick for one of my kids. Other than that, my stuff's all pretty replaceable.

My Brians goalie cup that has a checkerboard design, my Vaughn Legacy chest protector, and my old Heaton goalie pants. My Koho Patrick Roy Pro model glove has seen better days, but I don't think I'd ever give that thing up. It's done way too much for me for the past 10 years.

Still wearing koho shoulder pads that are on their 9th season and jofa elbow pads that are on their 8th season. Other than that I got pretty much new stuff. Always seem to get a new stick and another piece of equipment every season. Now that I think about I'm wearing my xxx's for a 4th season now and those are tore up.
