warrior37 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 So I went to pick up some carry out and gave the woman my card and it was denied, luckily I had some cash on me. Went to an ATM and it didnt work, noticed the crack in the card. Came home and checked my balances online and I have more than enough in my account. Card is cracked for sure, also Im starting to notice that some of the other cards and such are bending. Im a bigger guy, 240 lbs, how in the hell do I fix this problem? Get a new wallet? Hit the gym? Carry a purse? Anyone else ever have this issue, and find a solution? Thanks
Rustpot 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 Replace the card. Mine cracked, got a new one. Wallet in the front pocket from now on.Mine didn't crack from the wallet, as I haven't had that happen to anything before or since, but it was almost perfect along the bottom of the mag strip. If that's not the only card doing it then do something else.My back pockets only hold pieces of paper and whatever small amount of change I have.
fatwabbit 93 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 ditto on what rustspot said. I used to carry a wallet in my back pocket, but the wallet kept forming to my ass shape!I started using a leather business card holder to carry my credit cards etc in my front pocket. You can get one that is decent and have it last. I picked up a Braun Buffel one about 5 years ago, and its still going strong. Only things I carry in my wallet now are 4 cards, drivers licence, pic of the family, and a few reciepts or business cards. Still way thinner than a normal wallet... cptjeff 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 Call the bank and have 'em send you a new one. It's happened to me before, right at the point where you would crack it off if you stuck the card in a reader and broke off the mag strip. If you have cash or another card you can use while you wait it's not a big deal at all. They just send you a new one free, or at least my bank did.Long term, there are multiple solutions. One of those metal case wallets would be an idea.
mack 44 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 I have a bifold after years of using a trifold and like it a lot better. Stands vertical more than horizontal and I don't feel it if it's in my back pocket. More often than not tho I just have it on my suit's inside pocket. Big Glove Save 0 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 Do you mean to tell me the cargo shorts and cargo pants phase has now passed? So many of the pants I wear these days have multiple pockets that there is probably only one day a week when I sit on my wallet. Maybe just streamline what you carry with you, leave the wallet in the car and the essentials in a front pocket. Then tomorrow go out and have a computer chip with the necessary information injected just under the surface of the skin of your left thumb. Then you can simply scan every time you need access to certain information everywhere you go and.... Oh. Sorry. I forgot this was the year 2010 and none of the things I read in Popular Science 15 years ago has come to fruition at this time. Give me a call when you guys reach the future I have traveled from. You're really gonna dig it!
Rustyhole 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 my (then new) wallet has a zipper pocket and the pull-tag is right where the mag strip on my bank card was (i assumed the strip was at the bottom... nope) and went through 3 or four cards in fairly quick succession before I realized the problem. I keep my library card in that slot now!
Rustpot 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2010 Do you mean to tell me the cargo shorts and cargo pants phase has now passed? So many of the pants I wear these days have multiple pockets that there is probably only one day a week when I sit on my wallet.I wear cargos on a fairly regular basis, but I really hate the feeling of something shifting around my knee/lower thigh when there's anything more than paper in there. Short term storage only for me. Very useful when shooting and I'm not wearing a pocketed vest though. One of the guys I live with ONLY wears cargos and I roll my eyes every time he has to bend over to get at something since he doesn't use his normal pockets, just the leg ones. He goes through phones often.

shotty 7 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 if you pack a lot of stuff, just flip it over before you put it back in your pocket so that it never gets a chance to fully crease or bend.i've never been the type to carry anything more than i have to (debit, credit, license), but even still, the flip thing works. lee92 2 Report post Posted January 28, 2010 I just completely scratched my wallet entirely and went with a money clip. I rarely carry a lot of cash on me, so it works well as all my cards stay pretty secure in the clip in my front pocket. Having a wallet was getting too annoying. Sitting on it would cause low-back pain from the compression of vertebral discs from a titled pelvis due to the thick wallet, and it was too much to have stuck in the front pocket. Made sense to just scrap it altogether, and this way my cards don't get cracked or anything.
