Best Low end OPS

Recommended Posts

I Know everyone here talks about the high end OPS. But what is the best low end ops. Due to my new schedule im not able to play as often and just broke my Montreal Nitro. So I dont really see a point in spending over $80 on a stick. Any suggestions? I searched but didnt find any topics.

Best low end OPS is a mid to high end OPS on clearout. Checkout the various clearances on the net. Some great deals to be had at a good price.

YES THANK YOU, finally a thread to help those of us without huge budgets to spend on $200-300 Sticks...if its below $80, then I recommend the Nike Bauer Supreme One55 OPS:

-great puck feel

-relatively light compared to other sticks at that price point

-very tough and durable

-mid kickpoint great for slappers and one-timers

My roommate bought a Synergy SE6 and let me use it, and its a great stick. Light for it's pricepoint, very well balanced, and he got it for $85 at perani's. I've seen it for $75 on hockeymonkey from time to time.

The sherwood 5030 cc composite is supposed to be pretty nice and right around 70.00

Or just buy a shaft/blade combo.

I heard the new warrior swizzle and bentley are pretty decent. I know the bentley is around 70 but I am not sure how much the swizzle is.

Vapor XXV are around $65 at HG if you can still find a flex/curve you like. Also never tried one but RBK 5K around $60.

I've got two of the XXV's and they are great sticks overall. Also picked up a 7k Sickick for $80 a couple months back.

Or if you're really broke, find an Ultra Lite shaft on Craigslist/eBay and throw a wood blade in there.

I wouldn't spend more than $20 on most of those cheap OPS.

But this person wants the best for their money and some of those sticks might just be worth the money for them.

The 5030 cc has gotten some great reviews,.

yeah the one problem I see is that most closeout sticks are LH. This seems to be in the stores around here too (Detroit area). Kinda looking like i may pick up a combo.

Under $80, the Vapor XXV and S11 are available...7k Sickick is $90...those are all sticks I would use.

Honestly, the biggest thing for me with those cheap sticks is that the kick and feel are way, way off. I know a couple guys that have great shots that use the cheap Easton S5 shaft ($30) with a wood blade and are just fine. I know other guys who had amazing shots with a high end stick and tried a cheap stick and the shot went completely to hell.

Im coning from a Montreal Nittro 8500 not sure if that was a high end or low end. I bought it two years ago for $50. Played 2x a week. And reading posts I constantly hear people breaking sticks after month or two. Im 220, stiff flex is a must and a beast is a must.

Sorry to hear about your Nitro. I just broke my favorite one, too.

I'll echo some of the points that have already been made. I'd check for older top-end models or a quality 2 piece setup. I think you'd enjoy 'em more, plus not spend that much more.

The sherwood stick is supposed to respond just like a wood stick in shot and stickhandling. Good hard shot.

Best bet is a combo. I have found the one95 shaft for as low as 80.00 online. So for 100.00 you could have a high end stick.

If a shaft is high end and a blade isnt, does this affect the performance? This is the only thing about a combo that puts me off. I have not used one in a long time. Any favorites ?

Well you could match the one95 wood blade with the one95 shaft which is supposed to be a pretty good combo. I think the blade is around 25 dollars. I know it is more than your price point but it might be worth it.

The 8k is a good deal. Get the two piece for like $100 and shipping or the OPS for $109 if you look around and use a 10% off coupon...

The best value is a closeout top end stick. It may cost $10 more then a new low end OPS, but you'll get much more bang for the buck.

Having a high end shaft is more important to me. That being said, I'd still spend the extra 20 bucks for a top-notch blade. I find that they last much longer, so the money ends up working out in the long run. Obviously I like the feel and performance, too.... just have to spend a little more up front. My favorite blade is the Bauer One95 for a standard blade. I like Dolo blades for tapered setup.

Edit - I should have specified that I was talking about the one95 composite blade. I have not tried the wooden one95.

I hated my one95 wood blade. I ordered it online. The curve was completley off and wasn't durable compared to some other wood blades that I've used

I'll get more info on the Winnwell GX-8 today. Had a quick intro to it yesterday and was VERY impressed! 490g, great balance, 100% carbon, very TPS like, GREAT look!

Is there a MSRP yet?

The Sher-Wood focus was a great stick for $79.99, Probably not made anymore though but oh well.

For around $80 you can get a Vapor X if your paying retail, it's pretty good.
