X60 Stick

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I heard there was a big thread for the new X:60 stick and I can't seem to find it. I see the skate one (below) and a google search turned up nothing. Maybe Im blind?

I just scanned through the thread and aside from a handful of comments all 38 pages were skate based. DOes anyone have any more input on the stick? I saw tbl did not like the feel, but what about durability and use for a d-man?

Prefer the ONE95, but that's not to say the X:60 isn't great. I've been impressed with it. Best Vapor stick I've used. Fires rockets

Does the 60 out-perform the one95 with shots? I have heard it lacks feel, so I would assume that makes stick work and passing tough for guys like me, who already lack in the stickhandling catergory.

At the minor level I see more one95's then most anything else. There were a lot of kids that got X:60's when they first came out but many have stuck with the Supreme (or changed to it from a warrior or easton). In fact, the last time I saw such a wide adoption of a stick was the S17 when probably 80% of bantam rep kids had one.

I haven't used the One95, but I prefer it to the S17, Dolomite and U+CL. Shots are incredible and I think the overall feel is great. I ordered mine from MyBauer with the tactile grip (which I love). No durability issues yet after 2 months.

I have used the one85 and love it for the most part. I was debating a 60 or 95 for the next stick.

It all depends what you like. The blade is really hard which some people find as a negative. It doesn't bother me at all. However, I do think the ONE95 is a better shooting stick.

There are two different "feels" that are really offered, it seems like some people like what most of us consider bad feel.

Pingy: Easton, Warrior, TPS, Vapor

Dampened, feels like wood: one95, Mission VDS OPSs, CCM(the V130, 8.0 and V10 Catapult are elites from CCM in this category)

From a different thread.

Definitely the truth there. I couldn't put my tongue on the word, but pingy sounds about perfect. TBL is spot on with it.

skyscrape - I play D and the lack of feel hasn't been an issue for me at all. I frequently switch between my one95 and X60 in games and practices though, so that may have something to do with it. I like to pull my X60 out on power plays because it really does launch pucks off the blade. I'm also really hard on my sticks, and after seeing some considerable use I recently developed a crack in the heal of my blade. No complaints here at all.

Nice! That is what I was looking for!

I love shooting and would definitely be a sniper if I played forward, so I love to shoot! My biggest worry is wether or not it will hold up to some good defensive stick work.

I've been an Easton head for years now so when I was asked to try the bauer one95 and x60 I was really hesitant. I've shot with the one95 and the x60 and I definitely love the x60. It's a solid stick and shoots amazing. I've since switched from easton to bauer. I've been using the x60 for about 5 months now and it holds up great. I'm brutal on my sticks taking at least 100-150 slap shots each practice and it holds up. I would recommand then stick to anyone

I've shot S19, one95, and most recently the X60 and they are all good sticks. I doubt you could go wrong with any of them. That being said.

It may just be that I really enjoy my newish X60 but I feel like this is one of the best sticks I've used. It's got a great balance in your hands. It's very responsive and doesn't have that laggy feeling like the S19 did for me. It may just be me but I think the great part about this stick is it seems like its very forgiving if you rush a shot, or shoot with mostly arm strength in close and don't have a chance to catch the puck and load the stick for the shot. The shot still has that umph to it that I just never got with the S19. I did get it and more with the One95 but the stick just felt dead in my hands.

I think the "feel" on the stick is great. I can feel through the stick when a pass hits it and I don't bobble as many hard passes as I did with the One95. With the puck on the blade I'm able to keep the puck in a good shooting position on the blade when stick handling which is something I had to really try to do with the S19.

I have both a one95 as well as a X:60, among other sticks if you need an in-depth comparison. I've never going to say that a stick shoots great, but I will rate the kick it gives, ie the response from my normal shot.

The X:60 - Stiff blade, pingy feel(very little feedback, similar to a S17 for example), flex feels a hair stiffer than rated. Kick is hard and release is quick. It's not a bad stick by any means.

The one95 - Stiff blade, dampened feel(it almost feels ceramic but it has tons of feedback), flex is concentrated in the hands making it feel and play softer than the rated flex. It kicks hard, you can notice the lag of the shot with the flex in your hands. I wouldn't say the release isn't quick but it just doesn't feel(in your hands) as quick as the X:60, for example.

I prefer the one95, the blade on it is money. It's also super easy to shoot with, it feels like it takes less effort to get the same amount of power out of the stick... That does not mean that it "shoots harder," it's just easier to load. ...Because of the flex properties, the X:60 is nice for me at 87 flex and the one95 is 95 flex.

TBL, I agree with you on the one95 blade - and it does seem less effort is required to load up the one95.

I honestly feel as though my shot with each stick is just as heavy as the other though. Because of the way they flex though, I noticed I can get quick snap shots off close to the net easier and with more control with the one95. It is also easier to get these shots off closer to my body than with the X60.

I notice close to no difference at all when I'm shooting from the point though, especially when I have plenty of time to get a clean shot off.

Skyscrape - I'm usually pretty brutal with my sticks. I skate as close to 7 days a week as possible, a lot of shooting, a lot of hacking. The X60 has held up very well with me; the shaft hasn't broken down and become too whippy at all. I'm putting a lot of weight into my shots too.

I'm pretty sure the crack I have on my heel is from prolonged use without tape on that area though. It doesn't feel as though the blade is coming apart, just that it seems to be a little softer when I try to blast one timers.

Well, there is only one way to figure it out! I need to buy one of everything!

If I like the way the x60 feels in my hands I will try one on my next stick purchase.

TBL, by pingy do you mean there is a lot of vibration that goes up the shaft when you stickhandle with the puck? I love that feel where you can feel wherever the puck is because of that vibration and stiff (hollow-ish) blade.

Thanks.

I'm wondering the same thing. I was able to check one at my LHS and it felt great in my hands, really well balanced. But being able to feel the puck where ever it is on the blade is really important to me. I'm torn between the ONE95 and X60, but I think the great balance of the X60 sets it apart. I hate the dead feeling that the S17 and U+ had, where you can't feel the puck at all.
