Action Jackson 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2010 I started using the sakic pattern and I was shooting flubs left and right. So I started shooting with the face closed, and now im having trouble elevating the puck. Is it possible to be shooting with the face "too"?
dangle 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2010 It's 100% technique... The Sakic pattern may not be the optimal pattern for your style of shooting. Try other patterns out. The most important aspect of shooting a puck is correct technique.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 22, 2010 It might be a lie issue. Closing down the face on a blade with that much rocker can help resolve that problem.

IniNew 53 Report post Posted February 23, 2010 He means you might be shooting flubs because part of the blade is not in contact with the ice while you are shooting, and you are either shooting completely over the puck or not getting all of it. When you close the face of the blade with a pattern with a lot of rocker it has more contact with the ice because of the curve.I think it's either technique or a bad choice of curve (real helpful I know haha). gxc999 7 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 Just keep working on it. Any time I change from a neutral to an open pattern, it takes me a good half hour to adjust completely. I basically knuckle-puck the first 75-100 pucks I shoot after changing between curves.

gxc999 7 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 for instance like changing from a pm9 to heel wedge like drury?Exactly. I sometimes bring two sticks for a game, and occasionally switch between. It's a nice way to get some knuckle puck action, hah.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 I usually bring two sticks as well, but they match in virtually every respect
mik3 1 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 Yeah. My OCD and just being particular about curves has made me buy sticks in twos now. Even though I mainly use two different curves, I don't think I could change mid-game.

For me I might have different sticks with me, but as long as they are roughly the same flex/weight and the same curve, I'm fine.
