LivHockey84 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 yeah your brain took a bit of s a shot for sure. I had post concussion syndrome for almost 3 years after my hit. But it never included loss of memory, this may just be a temporary thing...give it some time and see if you remember things in a week. Also ask you teammates for stuff that happened during the lost 35 min. maybe it will jog your memory.
S.Gagne12 1 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 Hi,a friend of a teammate has the game on tape so i try to get for watching and catch some memories back. I really hope that helps.ThanksBYE
Law Goalie 147 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 I'm not sure what the German health care system is like in terms of quick access (eg. trauma, casualty), but get to a doctor ASAP. Cognitive disruption is a sign of a pretty serious concussion; the pain, dizziness, nausea, visual disruption, etc. will almost certainly follow.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 You really shouldn't play again until you get it sorted out. Get to a doctor, especially if you can find one that specializes in head injuries and have them check you out. As someone that has recently had a fairly significant concussion, I can't stress this enough. You may look back in a couple days, weeks or months and laugh at what you think is back to normal right now. If you have been concussed, you are the last person that should be evaluating your condition.
stock07 1 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 For sure get to a doctor....If you lost that much memory something got jarred around...Always better safe than sorry....
furlanitalia 1 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 When I got a concussion I never received memory loss but my memories were/are out of order. Time was also going by really fast. I'd get to a doctor.
usahockey22 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 Sounds like anterograde amnesia induced by a traumatic brain injury...forget watching a tape to "catch some memories back", you need to see a neurologist immediately.
lotus 2 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 Everything everyone has said - get to a doctor.Good luck, I hope everything is in order.
frankie56 0 Report post Posted March 1, 2010 I'm a doctor, and you should go see a doctor. This is why.A brain injury, like the one you received, can leave you vulnerable to more damage. Even very minor trauma, or even vigorous exercise, which would usually not be a problem, could result in permanent injury.
S.Gagne12 1 Report post Posted March 3, 2010 Hi guys, thanks so far. It´s now 3 days and no issues so far. What would you say if there has been no hit or crash to my head?Could it be just a Blackout?I talked again with teammates and nobody was sure about a hit or something to my head and the guy who thought it happened was wrong. He just guessed. No issues so far no pain or anything else in my head can remember everything ( exept the part of the game)Maybe the worst is that i sored three goals in that span and can´t remember none of them. But still are unsure of what the hell is going on. Try to see or talk to a Neurologist this week and hope everything is fine.Do you know how a doctor can identify a Concussion? Thanks GuysHope none of you have to go through something like this.Bye

SolarWind 23 Report post Posted March 3, 2010 I know it sounds pessimistic, but I do hope he'll have a LOT more success with doctors then I've had lately (GPs though - not specialists, the wait is way too long in Canada to get to there)Usually they just suggest common sense shit like "take it easy for a couple of weeks", "go by feel" etc... what a waste of time!Good luck! If you can, call an advice nurse and tell them what happened and see what they recommend. If you got hit or in any accident, car, bike, fall, or anything outside of hockey that might have happened within the past couple days you could have a concussion. If no hit occurred, it could be any number of conditions. But it is not normal, so get it checked out. This is not something to pretend did not happen. tareatingrat 4 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Not to hijack, either, but the wait to see a specialist is usually no more than a few weeks for something like that.Oh, and I don't have to take out a loan to go.But common sense in that case would prevail. Hey, I lost my freaking memory for 30 minutes. I probably shouldn't play for awhile, anyway.Good to see you're okay so far. Your brain isn't like an arm...it won't grow back. As is my understanding from The Simpsons.

As is my understanding from The Simpsons. It took my insurance company a couple months to get me in with a neurologist, mostly because the one treatment center here lied to them. I was still somewhat symptomatic at the time I finally got in, so it was nice to hear that my case wasn't unusual for a moderate concussion.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 Chadd are you cleared up yet?I'd say I'm 95% or so. I still have minor symptoms when doing some atypical stuff. But for daily living, working and playing no-check hockey, I am as back to "normal".
