Best Skates for $250 US

Recommended Posts

I'm in the market fot a new pair of skates and my budget is 250, but no higher than 275 USD. here are three that i am looking at. Just want suggestions of what has better wear and tear and boot durability. I like the pump skates, so I am looking at the new 7K's, the one75's from 09, and whatever you guys recommend.

Thanks in advance,

matt

I've been seeing some CCM Vector 10s online for that price. It's technology from 2-3 years ago but I love those skates. I might buy another pair for when mine die.

Mine have been great. I've seen them for great prices, especially on ebay. I like mine so much that I picked up a second pair for next to nothing.

Bauer Supreme One75's are a good skate!

Uh care to elaborate? How does it feel taking a shot to the foot and how stiff is the boot? Thanks tho sykscrape. And bjb, were the xxxx's on the pure website or just in the store because I don't can't see the skate selection from my iPhone. Because $200 is a good price, but I doubt any pros wear a size 8 skate besides Marty st. Louis. :P

I recently bought a pair of one75's (right before they dropped to 250$) and so far I've really liked them. I was coming off some low line skates so I can't be the best judge, but they are pretty stiff and I haven't had any stingers in them yet. From what I've read they are essentially updated one90's so their not a bad skate by any means.

My only issues I've had with them is my heel doesn't lock into them very well, and although I have a pretty typical foot thats not that wide at all, they hurt the outsides of my feet because they feel too tight. I now just go loose on the laces until the top 3 and that is fine, but doesn't help my heel from staying locked. Hope that helps a little.

Definately helps. I'm still looking for other opinions but I'm alreadyliking the one75's as my choice.

I wore the one75 skates for about a year and half. The shot protection was pretty good and the skate stayed stiff. Not my favorite skate but certainly a very good one.

If you want to go up to 300 I have some new 9ks (the white 09 version).

Staying in that range, from what it sounds you don't play high competitive, so I would recommend SE16s if those fit you/can find a pair. Better skate imo than the one75s. Your on the right track though finding old skates instead of this years still current skates like the stealth line, vapor, etc.

Well, I wear one95's so I am only speaking from my friends experience with his one75's. He loves them though! The supreme boots are pretty stiff, no forward pitch. Good protection and light! If your foot fits them, they will feel great right off the bat! He payed 299 for them and says they were worth every penny! Hope that helps.

Not as top-tier as what you're looking at, but in the same price range.. .

I've had the Reebok 5k's for about 7 months now and I'm really liking them (Came from Graf 705's). They're plenty stiff for me, fit my wide feet (I wear a 7.5E), and have held up well to the rigors bi-weekly games since August - they still look and smell brand new. On Saturday, I took the hardest shot I've ever felt to the inside of my right skate - it nearly knocked my foot from beneath me; however, no bruising or even soreness.

My only initial *meh* with the skates was regarding the pump. I have never had a problem or heard of anyone else having one 1st hand, but if anything goes, it really seems like the pump would be the first thing. On the sunny side of things, you get a snug ankle fit with mad flex all around - and when you're feeling sloppy in the 3rd, you can give it a few more pumps to tighten things up and make you FEEL a little more secure on the ice.
