Trippingblue 1 Report post Posted July 5, 2010 Same here, just pulled the trigger on a Messi Argentina jersey & a Barcelona jersey. Also got one of those official Jubilani balls with the 8 panels, because why not? This is the first time in a while that I actually want to do something else other than play hockey! It also kind of hit me that hockey is really one of the, if not THE most expensive sports to play. All this gear + sticks can easily cost you a couple grand a year, especially if you buy all the top-end stuff. Soccer on the other hand, you dish out maybe $350 for the top-of the line cleats, buy a ball, and you can train anywhere you want 24 hours/day. Almost makes me want to go play soccer for a living :PSucks that Argentina is out though, I actually had money riding on them winning the cup...I haven't played a match with the Jabulani ball, but the players and the goalies alike are not loving it. Apparently there aren't enough imperfections on the ball surface and that makes it behave unpredictably when you strike it.
EBondo 233 Report post Posted July 5, 2010 Correct. However it seems the players are getting more acclimated to it...goalies, not so much...I bought myself a Messi jersey as well...and with my two favorite teams playing Wednesday, Spain and Germany, I decided I'm getting either a Podolski jersey, or Villa/Torres...whoever wins will be which one I spring for. Haha

Apparently it's supposed to just keep on flyin' instead of coming back down sometimes :)
phonak 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2010 Germany - England and Germany - Argentina turned out to look the same. Germany went up early and managed to defend themselves until the 2nd half where they counter-attacked. If Germany can keep their defense together like the Argentina game, Spain is in trouble. raganblink 82 Report post Posted July 5, 2010 I've had a couple of them. a prototype one from a while ago when I was still actively playing, and I found one actually a week ago when I've gotten back into it. as a goalie I didn't mind it, but that's probably just cuz the skill I was facing wasn't that great (best player might be able to play d1). Now with this one since I'm using it as a player I actually love it. Awesome for handling and free kicks. I love the unpredictable aspect. but again this is all probably cuz I suck so it helps me. I'm sure if I was amazing I wouldn't like
tro 4 Report post Posted July 5, 2010 Oh boy the ARG game was fun, Germany looked so good on the counter again. The touches bye some of the young guys in pressure situations is amazing. Rocking the home and away jersey all weekend.Mueller out makes me sick, what a dumb rule, if you want to have a guy sit because he gets 2 yellows in the elimanation round, fine, but to have a guy sit because he was given a yellow in the group stage and then another one for a marginal hand ball yellow in the elimantion is silly! Rant over.Lets Go Deutschland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted July 7, 2010 Still alive baby. Go Spain! I have no idea what the prize is (for me) if they win Sunday...but the GM has promised a prize of some kind. And, my buddy bought a Jabulani ball...and he told his son that what he has is called a "soccer ball" and the new onel is called "Jabulani". So now his 3 year asks if he can play with Jabulani!

JMart10 0 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Same here, just pulled the trigger on a Messi Argentina jersey & a Barcelona jersey. Also got one of those official Jubilani balls with the 8 panels, because why not?Should of went with the nike t90 ascente ball since you were going with a high end ball, much nicer touch to it and kicks a lot better than the Jabulani (EPL, La Liga, and Serie A all used them). I'm really considering dropping the cash on one now because I liked kicking with it so much. I know there's a newer nike ball (total90 tracer), but I've never kicked around with it and I'm assuming it's the same ball with a $10-20 higher price tag. Also, pretty cool video showing how crazy the Jabulani knuckles when kicked
raganblink 82 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 that keeper sucks :PalsoORANJE BANDWAGON FTW!!!USA? OutEngland? OutGermany? OutHolland? Winners.. hopefully. I mainly just hate spain, going to be pretty upset for a day or so if they win.

That's some crazy stuff going on.
RadioGaGa 162 Report post Posted July 9, 2010 Is the yellwo ball it that video as a Jubalani as well? It made a deeper 'thud' when kicked. How light is the Jubalani?

How light is the Jubalani? To be honest I can't really tell for sure, I'm assuming it is based on the title of the video. It looks a lot more like the Teamgeist ball they used in 2006, but the guy is from Germany and they have different adidas products come out earlier there (for obvious reasons). He's actually using 3 Jabulani balls though and I can hear what you mean about the thud sounding different, but the yellow ball sounds very similar to the gold ball he uses that will be used in the finals. The regular matchball they've been using throughout the tournament sounds completely different than both of them

Hradsky 1 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 Oh haha, I thought you meant you got the actual match ballI got some "official" ball, it looks like the actual one that they used...It has the newer panel technology stuff (not 32 hexagon panels). But anyways, I'm not going to drop too much on a ball, after all, I'm a hockey player first :)
