2 piece shaft question

Recommended Posts

What flex are you looking for?

One95 comes in 77, 87, and 102 flexes where as S19 only offers 85 and 100

Your question is somewhat vague. Are you looking at them both as 2-piece options? Or at a OPS One95 and 2-piece S19?

I'll assume both as 2-piece sticks. I've been a huge Easton fanboy as long as I can remember, however, the Easton shafts the past few years have sucked. Ever since they switched to a new method of producing them (liquid silicone injection), they've been much heavier and had quite a cheap/dead feel. I used the Z-Carbon/Focus Flex/S15/S19 (all the same) blade for about 10 years and although I love the feeling, their durability kind of sucks, especially for ice.

However, the One95 is known for being an amazing-feeling stick with an incredible blade. The blade is damn near indestructible and offers a very solid, yet softer feel. And the good news is that the majority of people say that the shaft/blade version of the One95 feels 95% identical to the one-piece version. I had a One95 shaft and broke it within 6-7 easy uses, but that seems to be quite rare as most people absolutely love them.

I think if you want a good Easton shaft, get an older one and find a blade you like. Easton's older shafts had much better feel, were lighter, and will be cheaper.

Like Scotty, I think that older Easton shafts are great. It seems like a lot of them have popped up on ebay lately (and for reasonable prices).

Of the two choices you gave, I'd choose a one95 tapered shaft for myself (I'd probably choose the one95 above anything else out there right now. That's based on the feedback I've seen for them here).

I have a one95 OPS right now and love, but going with a 2-piece seems like a more cost efficient option. Sounds like the majority think the one95 is the better way to go.

Make sure you track down the tapered one95 shaft and not the standard if you want the same performance.

Does Bauer make a tapered one95 blade????? I have only seen standard one95 blades.

I never mentioned the blade, only the shaft.

Yes I know, I was just wondering for the people who say the two piece shaft is very similar to the ops what blade are they using. I would think for the 2 pc stick to feel the same as the ops they wold have to use the one95 blade.

I would try the SE16 shaft. I have the one95 (standard - because I cannot find a tapered one in Vancouver) but bought the SE16 with an SE16 blade two weeks ago. Although the one95 feels slightly lighter, I can stick handle much better with the SE16. Wrist shots (and even quick snaps) are better with the SE16 but I will say slapshots are better with the one95. Will have to wait and see about the durability for easton I guess (the one95 has been very durable). Just thought I'd give you another option.
