What's the difference between Warrior Dolemite Spyne and Double D

Recommended Posts

I picked up a couple Dolemite sticks at the Ducks equipment sale. What's the difference between the Dolemite Spyne and Dolemite Double D?

DD has dual density foams inside the blade (stiff in the heel, softer in the toe), spyne feature is mostly to reduce torque but they say it acts like a 'spring' loading energy.

I just checked, the Spyne blade doesn't seem to be on the shafts. Is there any difference between the DD and Spyne shafts?

as far as the Warrior sticks, here is an interesting little fact sheet.

I think Keith from Warrior wrote this

Sticks are a great example how much detail goes into customizing for a pro player. Here are the options:

-1300 different pattern molds, most pros get their own mold.

-6 different handle shapes

-7 different outer finishes (Super tack, Grip, Soft Grip, Velvet Grip, PolarFibre, SharkSkin, Clear)

-Flex range is 50flex to 180flex in 5flex point increments

-6 different internal blade packages (foams, stiffeners etc)

So really.... with the pro stock sticks, it's a big toss up, in my opinion.

i think the length of the taper on the DD is different than the Spyne.

remember, its a pro stock, what the graphic says, more often than not, is not indicative of the actual stick itself. players are billboards for these brands, they'll always SHOW what they want you to buy, even if its not necessarily what the player is using.

Thanks for the help!

BTW, who in the world gets a 180 flex?!

lol, the same person who gets a 50!!! And yeah, those facts are legit. Keith Perrera did a Q&A thing on Warrior's facebook page. He answered one of my questions on a pro stock I have.

I read an article with one of Warrior's stick guys that mentions some of that same stuff. Pretty interesting.

That was a very cool interview. It's amazing to think how many different sticks there are out there. I liked the part about the players knowing if the stick wasn't the proper flex right off the bat. These Nokelainen Dolomites I just got are listed as 105. They sure don't feel like that at all. They are MUCH more flexible than my retail 100 flex Dolomite.

Retail flexes now are all over the place. Between things like the S17 screwing them up and then Easton switching to the pro stock flex specifications... etc. I was trying out some S19s the other day and even the 85 is stiff as hell now. Went and compared it with a buddy's AK27 OPS and their 85 also feels like a 100-105. However, most of Warrior's other flexes are dead on. Everything's screwed up now. The recent retail Dolomite shaft I bought (finally making the transition away from Easton's after 15 years!) is rated at a 75, but I decided not to pay attention to the rating and went solely by feel. After taking off an inch or so and getting it all ready, it's an 80-85ish. Great stuff.

What a great read. Thank you for posting that. Warrior is, hands down, my stick of choice.

As for their flex ranges, I posted on here last year the crazy 60 flex Wes Walz Dolomites I bought....wish I still had 'em...

I'd be interested to see a break down of all the blade materials and internals they use. Strengths and weaknesses and who uses what. I'll agree Warrior prostock sticks are great. The only thing I run into is since they have so many options its tough to find one you like and have to change since you'll be hard pressed to find something similar.

Slightly off topic but is Warrior still based in Warren? Interview was in '06 so I'm curious if that's still true.

Nice, expect to get a package in a couple months from a bright, ambitious, well informed and rather awesome young CMU student looking for a PR internship.

Damn Wes Walz being right handed...he has a gorgeous toe curve too. Would love a 440 flex too after chopping 6" off the stick.
