Looking for info on Graf 570/670 and 605

Recommended Posts

Im looking into trying the Graf 570/670 and 605 skates. The 670 is deeper than the 605 but the 605 still looks fairly deep. How does the length of Graf skates compare to supremes or U+ for the same size? U+ was too wide in the forefoot, and Supremes were a hair narrow in forefoot in D width. Would Graf regular width be good?

Is the 570 a pretty flexible skate? I like an upper mid stiff skate, maybe the 670 would be better?

If anyone with experience with these skates could chime in on how they fit and what type of foot they have that would be great, thanks.

EDIT: Looking at the 6 series, it looks like they dont come up very high at the ankle at all, has anyone had problems with this?

Thanks for posting a link which answers none of the questions I asked. My God, do you really think I haven't at least looked though the Graf website? If not, how would I know about those 2 specific models Im talking about? Im asking questions that are NOT covered on the website. Please, actually READ the post you are replying to before you post an erroneous link.

Maybe it would be worthwhile to go somewhere where there is a good selection of skates to try on instead of playing a guessing game that seems to be wasting your time and money.

I agree with what he said, I know that you've said that you don't have any good shops in your area. But, for the amount of money and time it might be worth it to fly somewhere not too far in the morning go to a reputable shop with a good selection, get fitted and buy the skates and then fly back later that day. I've actually thought of this before myself since I don't really have any places with big selections around where I live either, except I was thinking that I'd take few days off from work and make it skate buying trip/vacation.

Yeah that would probably be the ideal thing to do, but thats borderline ridiculous for me since I dont play hockey and just like to skate. I would waste more money on the plane ticket than buying and returning skates online. It would save time, but I dont know if Im willing to do that... I pretty much know theres only one graf model that will fit me that I can afford: the 670. Ill call around again to see if either of the 2 shops have any flexlites in stock yet (long shot for enough depth), but I know the only shop that carries graf will only carry the G line and wont have them for another month.

Here's what you want to do, Joey. You need to know the exact dimensions of your foot, and you need to get the corresponding Graf skate. You can do this by using a Graf measuring tool, or you could do as I did and call Bruno of Bruno's Hockey Shop in Michigan and ask him to guide you.

Post some pics of your feet and let's have a look. Mainly, let's see your backstay, or heel from the side. Unless you know. Is your heel pronounced?

Erroneous? THe link plainly shows you the difference and the 05 series is clearly marked as MEDIUM depth where the 09 or G70s are clearly marked as DEEP. Maybe you need to understand what you're looking for. It is obvious that the 605 is similar to the Graf 705, which most likely will not fit your foot. I take it you've looked at the website enough to understand how Graf categorizes their skates. Perhaps waiting another month to get the right fitting skate may be in your best interest. I'd hate to see someone waste time and money and end up with sore feet because they could not wait to get the right pair of skates. Or you could order online like you did before and try on the 670s or 570s. For what it seems like you're doing, I'd just got with the 570s and be done with it. Lots of people in rec leagues playing hockey in One35s or Vapor X30s or X40s. Hell, one of the better skaters I've played against wears the Graf 301s.

Ive talked to him already and we talked about the 670. I didnt do measurements, but I guess I could. The pics of my feet are posted in my "CCM U+ deeper than Supreme?" thread... titled something like that anyway. Fairly recent, shouldnt be too far back on this list. My heel is not pronounced drastically, just slightly.

I know what the site says, thats why I stated in my post that the 670 is deeper. :D I know exactly what I'm looking for, I was asking for peoples PERSONAL experience with the skates. But like you said, I may just have to wait and try on in the store... Im growing very tired and frustrated with all this. I just wanna F***ING SKATE!!!!!!

EDIT: Plus, Im unsure of the low cut Graf ankle and how it would affect my fairly weak ankles. Im sure it would force me to skate better and eventually strengthen them, but I dont wanna look/feel like a newby for 2 months until that happens.

You should be okay IMO I do not think the Grafs are cut any lower than the Vapors

Supremes are cut higher though I believe.

Hey guys, sorry to dig up an old thread, but I was wondering if there was any quality issues, or if anyone had any personal gripes with the 570s? I tried on a pair today and the felt pretty good on my feet, but I don't want to drop $300 on skates that will end up letting me down.

Not trying to be funny here but if you don't play hockey, and don't think you'll ever want to maybe you should expand your search to figure skates.

Bump one last time. Please, any info would be appreciated. I looked for user reviews online and couldn't find much.

The 670 isnt bad durability wise the main complaint we had was the tongue if you are getting them Id reccomend getting the normal thick felt graf tongues they have a foam like tongue on them stock that tends to crease easy creating lacebite, I think the jump to a 700 level skate is worth it cosidering sidas better tongue and a thicker composite sole hope this helps you

or even freestyle skating or extreme ice skating. ^^ not playing hockey n just skating doesn't mean that this guy should look after figure skates...

I just threw that out as an option. Because he states he doesn't play hockey and just skates he may not need features specific to hockey skates. If he wants hockey skates that is fine. If you have read his prior posts over time he has had some struggles finding a skate he likes. Figure skates, or figure skaters should not be seen as insulting by anyone in the hockey community as the good ones are incredible skaters, and most powerskating instruction originated from just such people. I neither tried to make fun of joeyisfunny or figureskating.
