i wear the thinnest regular socks i have lying around (i can't justify spending $15+ on socks to my parents)

i went through about a month of no socks, skating felt pretty good at first bui ended up getting 2 blisters and my ankle was chafing :(

...I really don't have any problems with blisters and all that good stuff - but my skates take ALOT of time to dry out after skating; time I usually don't have.

One of the reason's to wear socks besides reducing the smell, is to avoid various kinds of foot fungi...which are easier to get without the right socks. Actually some of the thin polyester socks can cause more fungi than they prevent..better to use the "special socks" that were designed for this, or silk if you can find them.

The technology exists to make the inner liners totally "stink" free as well as prevent the growth of unwanted "bugs" in your skates.

Because the manufacturers have spent so much money on making their high end skates so much lighter, experimenting with the various composite materials, and on the expense of marketing new models every year, the cost of the skates to the manufacturers has gotten pretty heavy and the market place pretty competitive..hence they are less willing to add more cost to their skates for something like the "bio liners' which could clean up the smell/infections for fear they would price themselves out of the market.

I have heard that one company will be testing a skate like this soon though...I think the premium will be worth it if the lining used doesn't effect the performance too much.

I always wear socks. If I don't I get huge blisters on the back of my heels. I have these HUGE bumps on my heels from having so many bad blisters.

I can't stand to wear socks. I tried them ultra thin socks, and it still wasn't the same. For some reason it just feels better when I skate.

Hey i there is one question:

If you skate barefoot and you take off your skates, do your feet like sticking on the insoles and you are pulling them like half way out ?

On most insoles yes. But on shock doctors I didn't have the problem.

I just wear generic sport socks from Zellers or Wal-Mart, works fine for me. As long as they're sewn across the top so there's no bulging to the sides, it's all I ask for.

same with me... no problems with just regular socks

hey,

going barefoot on the normal footbeds in vapor vii's is like impossible, if you move your toes, the footbed moves with them :<

do you have the black "dry grip stabilizer" footbed in your vapor vii's? they seem to work pretty well when i skate barefoot, maybe your skates are too big and that's making the footbed slide
