New Reebok Helmet?

In this screen shot it looks like Sedin is wearing a new reebok helmet. At first glance, it looks like it may be an 8K with the new "Reebok" wordmark across the front.

If you pause the video at 56 seconds, it looks like The helmet the Penguins player is wearing is the same new helmet Sedin is wearing in the screen shot. You can tell it's not an 8K by the inserts on the side. Any info on this?

I think I read a little something on the Reebok Hockey facebook page earlier today that suggested an 11K helmet in the works.

does anyone find it weird that we are now having equipment sightings from video games? im sure there probably is a new reebok helmet on the way - it just seems weird to take stuff spotted in video games as true.

A former teammate of mine plays in the Reebok testing league and is currently wearing a prototype 11k helmet.. Looks to be almost ready for retail sale.

They're hockey nerds themselves and work closely with manufacturers to make sure they're representing their product accordingly. Especially when they have a feature to buy and equip your own gear. It's hard for me to think that they would get something like this wrong.

Eh, they have gotten better, but when I was working with 2k we handed EA their lunch when it came to equipment choices.

Not really. The same thing has been happening with the NBA game the last couple of years. Most of the players will have their latest shoes (LBJ, Jordan Brand ,etc.) for the upcoming season.

Yeah totally. It's a process and they stuff they do offer in game is kinda weak when it comes to variety. Obviously they're trying to put in the game what Easton/RBK/CCM etc are trying to push onto consumers. It's all represented quite well though.

And EA didn't learn either, their equipment and editing pails in comparison to 2K.

Where the editing lacks the gameplay makes up for, it's years ahead of 2ks. My biggest gripe is this stupid "Boost Equip" you get when you preorder the game.

When I was consulting from NHL2k7-2k9 we had around 15 Easton stick choices alone, and tied it in with the player - so if you were Kariya, you had a black UL. If you were Marleau or Yashin, you had a UL. If you were Phaneuf, you had a green ST.

EA's editing is terrible for equipment and for create-a-team. In 2K you could edit every part of the glove, you could edit stick colors, change runners, goalie pads had more options for coloring and what they did this year for create-a-team is the best that I've ever seen.

EA has limited jersey, glove and stick selection.

Realistically, 99% of the people playing the games don't care enough to make it worth EA's time.

considering 90%+ of the people playing the game have played hockey before, quite a few want to recreate their team's jerseys.

I want to see full customization of jerseys and importation of logos. I hear it all the time... kids playing HS and even below like bantam peewees etc want to put their jerseys into the game. That's why that NCAA10 feature was amazing with the logo importation.

Oh and about the helmet, looks nice.

Always loved 2ks equipment selection and that they programmed prospects names into create-a-player. Overall game I'm an EA fan though.

It's a travesty that the Team builder feature isn't built into every EA game. The options for hockey are endless; I guarantee we never see it NHL.

i thought gameface from Tiger was pretty cool, that i think would be a cool addition future NHL games. considering the lack of things in creat a player, why not have your own mug in there!?

Saw helmet today. Pretty much its super dirty. Facemask for it aswell is really nice. You guys are gonna love this thing. Pretty much its an 8k that works with then redone and better padding. Cage is crazy cool.
