The lightest visor for my S19 Z-Shock

Recommended Posts

So the Z-Shock helmet is pretty darn light, and I'm looking at either the Hejduk MH X Convex Pro Line Helmet Visor Set, the Bauer Straight Cut Half Shield, or the Oakley Pro Straight. What do you guys think?

Since the Oakley is 3.5-inches at it's widest point, I think it might weigh more than the Hejduk or Bauer. Between the Hejduk and Bauer, which are 3-inches at their widest point, the Hejduk has tapered ends, which probbably further reduces material/weight. The thing is, I've read one Hejduk/S19 mounting horror story here on MSH, and according to Inline Warehouse, the Bauer Visor has uses some patented, distortion free optical technology under license from Oakley. I don't know how "good" Hejduk optics are.

Ultimately, I'd like to pick one of these guys up fairly soon, since playing without a visor makes me feel kind of sketchy.

Visors are light enough that you can't notice the difference at all. Would you notice the weight of a pair of sunglasses when you wear it?

Any chance you could try the 3 at your LHS? I've been wearing the Hejduk pro straight visor for coming up to 1.5 years now and still scratch free. Optics are great as well. Can't tell you about the other 2 but they don't sound like bad choices at all. I'm pretty sure you'll be happy with any visor you pick

It's a visor. Come on.

Quit worrying about stupid stuff like the weight and worry instead about clarity, protection, durability, and size.

I have an Under Armour halfy on right now and it seems to be decently light. I just replaced the Oakley pro straight small (the do two sizes) and it was pretty light but didn't offer much coverage. Anything with vents is probably going to add a bit of weight.

Really? You are worrying about the weight of a visor? How about you take a crap or cut your nails before a game? That way you can shed some weight before a skate...

I know visor weight seems ridiculous, but once you wear the Z-Shock, you might understand the concern. The helmet is just so freaking light, that I can see a visor pulling the helmet down! Unfortunately, they don't sell visors like the Oakley or Bauer Straight in Canada any more, so I can't check them out in-store. I'll have to order online, which is why I appreciate your experience with Hejduk being shared. Updates will come once I place my order~

I have tried on this helmet and your right its freakin light as hell. I can see the concern of the weight of a cage or visor maybe pulling the helmet down. A cage has the chin cup so that wouldn't let it pull down and like someone else mentioned the visors are so light themselves that it wouldn't be a problem !

If the helmet fits properly a visor, or a cage that's also fitted properly for that matter, will not pull the helmet down.

The helmet has a very strange shape, a lot of people are going to have fit issues with it.

Definitely try on the visor, especially if you have a big nose. Some visors can get very close to the face.

I have a huge nose, as the MSH skate pics will attest, and I've had good luck with the Hejduk or Oakley straight small.
