base flex v. one95 flex

Recommended Posts

hey guys, i am in the market of trying out a base stick.. for those who have used and are using base stick and used to use the one95 stick, did you stay with the same flex rating in terms of the one95s 87 and base's 85? i heard the one95s flex is whippier than the average 87, so how many of you who now use base, use base's 75, and who has stayed with the 85?

I'm actually in the process of writing a comprehensive Base review. But to answer your question regarding flex, I've been/was using a Senior 75 flex (they offer 75 in Senior and INT dimensions) and it's really whippy. Almost too whippy (for me) that it's causing a bit of drag/delay in my snap shots. And when I load wristers (the shot I use 97% of the time) the puck is coming off the blade at strange angles because I'm torquing it out. But again, take this with a grain of salt because your playing style could be completely different than mine. I actually had to stop using the Base stick because it was throwing off my shooting style. (and get my hands back on a Warrior)

IMO, the Base 75 is much closer to TPS Whip Flex (70).

Right now, I can easily say that my One 95 85 flex was a lot whippier than my new base. And my base is 85, but down to the same height of the One 95. So I'm guessing it's anywhere from 85-90. But it still shoots great and all.

I don't want to sound like an idiot but what's a base stick?

Base is a new company that makes sticks and is run by some of the former gurus of Easton and Warrior, plus a couple former NHL players.

hmm... well i was originally going to get the 85 flex, but because the one95 is overrated and feels like an 85 when i cut it abotu 2 inches.. i went ahead and got the 75 in base.. if it ends up being similar or a bit whippier, i dont really mind.. i am only 5'10 160lbs and have used 85-100 flex in the past, and am willing to experiment with something a bit whippier. i tend to load alot into my shows using my upper body more than letting the stick do the work, so it will ber interesting to see how it works out. i know the only 77 flex i have ever tried was a one95, and that really isn't a good comparison as that prob was more like most companies' 70. anyways, i guess i will find out how it is!

btw i got it in the bc01 (aka hossa pro) curve.. sexiness!

Anyone used the intermediate 75 flex yet? Wondering where that would fall on the flex scale for those of us who use short sticks. Intermediates have the same shaft diameter as seniors, right?
