I'm sure he could get away with killing someone. Or maybe just a 1 game suspension. It's ok cause Avery tried to slew foot him and got slammed so it was evened up.

Slewfoot for sure, dirty play even as a pens fan. Don't know how many of you saw the comments by Dubinsky between period but I found them rather interesting

Just saw it on TPB, he needs to quit "whining". As noted in their c-blog section, "Calling Crosby dirty when you have Sean Avery on your team is a joke."

In all honesty I could care less if it was called or wasn't called. There are a number of things that get let go or are phantom calls. It's the reality of the game.

I have yet to see a phantom call against Sid

Not saying specifically against him but just in general. Although the penalty he got in the third was very suspect since Avery tried to slew foot him and he just kept his balance and threw Avery down. I would say that is more of a make up call of the Cally play. It's whatever it was evened cause of it. It's easy to get angry about it during or after the game when you are on the losing end cause I get frustrated with stuff like that too so I understand where they were coming from.

Avery isn't a dirty player. He's a jerk on skates, a prima-dona, and a strange dude, but, he's not dirty. The dirtiest thing he's done is probably the dive against Jagr when he was in LA and the fight that he goated the kid into a couple of nights ago and beat him down. That play was just plain dirty, and I'm not a Crosby basher. Not the first time this has happened in a Pitt - NYR matchup, and not the first time it has gone uncalled. Anyone remember the two that went uncalled by Malkin when they met in the Eastern Conference semi's a couple of years back?

Doesn't matter.

Stamkos > Crosby

Crosby just gets away with garbage like this because he's Canada's Golden Child.

That really adds to the conversation that has nothing to do with anything being discussed.

Now known as the Cindy defense argument: “How many penalty minutes do I have this year if I’m that dirty?” said Crosby, who has 15. “I mean, please." Crosby's post-game comment.

Unfortunately, it seems like Crosby is hitching his car to the Matt Cooke train of thought, rather than the other way around.

You never saw Gretz or Mario pull this type of shit. It's a shame too, because he is one of the top 3 players in the league, year in and year out. He doesn't need to pull stunts like that.

Also to the bloggers: it doesn't matter who is on your team. A dirty play is a dirty play.

So he slew footed someone, if it wasn't Crosby you guys wouldn't be posting about it. To say Avery isn't dirty is a joke, if you are going to comment on something at least display the pretense of being objective. As was pointed out, Avery tried to run Crosby without the puck and Crosby dumped him, penalty to Crosby. I would think most of you have grown up and have better things to do with your time than complain every time Crosby does something you take umbrage with or perceive as favoritism.

I wish I wasn't lazy and would look up the topic containing ridiculous outrage from when Steve Downie slewfooted Crosby..... Lets be realistic and call a spade a spade. That's a slewfoot no doubt about it, a dirty move I don't care who it's by. If you start writing a list of questionable things Sid has done how does that not put him in discussion with the dirty players in the league?

The only reason Crosby is not dubbed a "Dirty Player" is because he is Canada and the NHL's golden boy. Why not make Sid clean up his game or not call it every time someone comes near him. Make him answer the bell and maybe he changes.

How many more examples are needed before a guy is considered to be a dirty player?

Umm, maybe a few more like the first because the second one is pretty lame. He goes in, the player turns to avoid the check and Crosby ends up tripping him. Try harder. Or, better yet, do something constructive with your time.

Like Crosby, however I dislike dirty things like slewfoots. No one is perfect you don't need to get upset when someone calls him dirty as if they're bashing your own flesh haha.... He does the same dirty crap that everyone pulls it's just that they go uncalled unlike the stuff that is done to him. That's what gets some of these guys panties in a bunch

That isn't incidental contact. Sid throws his left leg out quite a bit on that one. You can even see how far out it is in the freeze frame.

Mario was known to go after smaller guys from time to time, usually when they had their back turned.

Almost every player in the league does somethin of this matter from time to time and people who play the sport in general. If Cally didn't try to interfere with him by taking his lane this would have never occurred. If you say that he didn't then you obviously have your hater blinders on.

Who deosn't slew foot? Especially in this day and age. Everyone knows that you need to have a certain level of physicality in this league and Sid does. So does Ovie, so does Stammer. It's just the what the game has evolved into. Gretzky and Mario didn't have to do it because the game was more wide open for them. It's a part of the game, everyone does it at some point, just some do it more than others.

Speaking of which, ever notice how many players do it with a hit along the boards? Always kickin out the back of players legs.

Avery's attempt to "slew foot" Sid and gets thrown down in the process.

While this didn't start off with much hope, it's amazing how fanboys can run a topic into the ground in record time.
