Hockey hit from roughly 10 years ago..

I'm wondering if anyone remembers this hit. I've been trying to remember who it was and what teams, but it's been a long time. From what I remember, I think the player delivering the hit was from the Penguins, not sure of the opposing team. Anyway, he skated into the other player and somehow managed to knock himself out cold. It may have involved the St. Louis Blues, but it's a bit hazy. Anyone remember a hit like that? Maybe between 1997-1999.

Hmm, that's not it, the player attempting to make the hit's head actually slams into the other players chest shoulder area and then he just goes limp and falls to the ice.

Hmm, I don't know which hit you are talking about. But the title of this thread reminded of the huge hit that Scott Stevens had on Eric Lindros in the playoffs about 10 years ago.

I think you may be refering to Kevin Stevens. I remember watching that game. From what I remember he hit someone and got knocked out and hit the ice face first while unconscious. It was nasty. I believe he still has all the metal work in his face that was used to reconstruct it. He broke alot of stuff in his his face on that one.

I think it was Kevin Stevens knocking himself out on Rich Pilon's visor. I believe Pilon was with the Islanders- I want to say it was a playoff game.

Mmm, they just showed McKee trying to lay out Mario at the same time another guy is engaged with him in open ice. McKee gets a little of both of them but pretty much knocks himself out as well.

But Stevens did it as well.

They cut Stevens' facial skin, peeled it back, fixed the bones, then sewed it all back together.
