Ovechkin's stick question

Ovi prostock from last season next the kgb curve: 5049529984_9afdef6897_b.jpg

From the picture, it looks to be a pretty mild and even rocker. Tam if those are your sticks, how do you like using the curve. Is it Essentially like using a p91a(but a toe instead of heel curve) as far as getting used to the wedge portion?

Hey Tam, just always wondered what the flex is on Ovi's stick. Your Pro Stock has the Ovi symbol with 102 below it, I believe, however I have seen a white stamp with 75 and some other text on the back of he lower shaft closer to the blade. So what is in fact the flex? Always confused me.

It was fun to mess around with, I prefer my p92. Plays basically the same as a p92, but you have to turn over your wrist more to keep it low. It was never my main stick, I've actually ended up giving it away.

i have a real ovechkin and a kgb as well - ill see if i can get a side by side pic as well - they seem pretty much identical to me

They're different if you ask me. 5048916437_aae7d7425c_b.jpg

Felt like a 90 flex to me. Mine also has a 75 stamped on the bottom portion of it.

should be 79 now, but you can find 75-79 ones since he tried them all.

Ya I remember last winter TSR/Al's Pro stock hockey had some Ovi pro returns on ebay and there was anywhere from 70 flex to 105 flex and every flex in between in increments of 5. I just always wondered what the 102 under his symbol meant, since he really doesn't have the codes like the other pro stock name plates have, except for that funny white stamp at the bottom of the stick with 75.

On the retail ccm the ovechkin retail number is 102-2 no matter what the flex. I wonder if the pro-stock is 102-1?

Just seems weird it is part of his symbol and graphics, instead of a stamp like on most pro stock sticks, unless it has a personal meaning to him. I am sure there is a simple explanation.

Those numbers are residual from the V-120 era Vectors

10 (mm curve), 2 (near the heel) - 2 (severity of loft, 0 is closed, 3 is very open)

odd, his retail curve is 102-2

Yep that is definirely weird as his pro stock curve doesn't match that code at all lol.

everyone should take comments about 'whipiness' with a huge grain of salt. How stiff a stick feels depends on kickpoint, strength of the person holding it, how and where they flex it etc.

here are the pictures of mine - finally got my lazy butt to take pictures

the toe of the kgb seems to be more rounded than the actual ovechkin stick which is more pointed

it will be his curve just more beefed up his real sticks are pretty thin near the toe's so I am sure they will beef them up so they are a bit more durable
