Tapered blade similar to a One95?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am getting a couple of new shafts this week and I need to get some blades. Does anyone have an experience with a tapered shaft blade with a similar feel to the One95? I've heard the x:60 is really pingy. Should I look at an SE16, an 11K, 8K, 7K? I'm looking for a good feel for the puck, like I get from my One95.

Thanks

I really like my Harrow 300 blades, although they are a bit heavy. 3k weave, very solid puck feel, insanely durable, and cheap.

My main setup for almost a year now is a one95 shaft (77flx) with one95 blades (pm9). I also own Reebok 8k and 10k pro stock tapered shafts that I used with various blades.

The SE16 blades are almost the complete opposite of one95 blades in terms of feel. Mind you, the feel on the SE16s is good, just totally different, pingy and kinda plastic feel to it. I found the dolomite tapered blades to be close to the one95 in terms of feel (been using the dolo2 and dolo HD blades), I can switch between the one95 setup and Reebok/Dolo setup without too much problems. The SE16 blade setup will give me trouble without a significant adjustment period. Supposedly the new Dolo DD blades are even better in this regard. I have not used Reebok blades at all.

Thanks for the reply, I am definitely going to check out the Dolo blades. I don't want to drop $50+ on an SE16 only to find out it's not what I want.

I can't find a Harrow anywhere in town, online it's about $70 to pick one up. I might keep looking.

where do you live, is it for the shipping? Harrows cost $40 and they often offer a 20% or 50% off code...got mine with a 50% shipped to Germany and ended about half the price of a Dolo here...

Yeah, with shipping it was going to be like $66.50. I've seen a lot better deals around here than that. I am in Calgary.

EDIT - found a promo code online, 20% off = $56.96 with shipping.

Ah yeah shipping to Canada might take a hit, although if you order two that might be more worthwhile.

My second choice for tapered blades would be the Dolomite DD. I'd steer clear of the Easton blades for durability reasons. Only Bauer blade I've tried is the XXXX and the thing is completely indestructible but feels really pingy...but I think the X:60's are supposed to be better in that regard.

Jarick,

Do you know whether Harrow updated the 300 blade? The graphics have been updated but I'm not sure about the construction of the blade. It is listed at 150 grams, which is only 10 grams heavier than the Bauer X60. My older 300 Harrow blade makes my Rbk shaft very blade heavy. I've never paid attention to weight measurements until now since shafts have become so light, so I can definitely say that the Harrow 300 blade makes newer shafts blade heavy. I'm wondering whether the new-styled blade is lighter than the old-styled blade. Any idea?

It really depends on the curve with Harrow. You can have a very short hosel on one curve and a very long one on another curve. The Drury is the shortest and the Recchi the longest from what I recall.

That's correct, some hosels are longer than others. I currently have the #1 (Forsberg), #2 (Coffey), #3 (Drury), and #4 (Recchi) curves. The #1, #2, and #4 are longer and the #3 is shorter. At some point in time I might order a #6 (Sakic).

I might just have been unlucky, but I know the harrow 300 blade I bought definitely doesn't fit with my Dolo shaft. Can anyone confirm/deny this for the original poster?

it's been said a few times those two aren't a good match. I managed to fit a harrow into my t flex so I assume other easton shafts are fine

I had to shave a couple of millimeters off my harrow blade to have it fit in the dolo shaft. Not ideal, but it has held up good for the past 4 months.

eq50 would be a excellent feel option not sure on the durability compared to the one95 my eq50 onepiece's blade did delaminate quickly but is still very stiff and has excellent feel like the 95 did

Theyll be available very soon and will be this years easton tapered fit blade, Im assuming the blade will be the same blade thats in the onepiece we are supposed to have them in first of march so I am assuming they will be available to everyone that early booked at that time and that will include the big box stores, we have had the onepiece's for a month now and have had great feedback on feel but its def not on par wieght wise for that price level stick

I picked up a Reebok 11K blade (Hedman) and with the dolomite, it was actually a pretty decent combo. I was able to make a few decent passes around the net last night, and I felt like I had a pretty good feel for the puck. I still prefer my One95, but that might be more of a OPS vs. 2 piece issue. Definitely lost some pep on my shot, but most goals aren't coming off big shots anyways. I don't understand how that textured puck guide thing on the 11K is supposed to help when the blade is taped up. Sort of a gimmick.

I used the x:60 for about a month and I really didn't like it, esp. compared to the one95. Still, while the puck felt kind of dead, I have to say it shot rockets the entire time i used it.

Has anyone used the X:60 tapered blade? How's the feel/durability?

great pop, crap feel crap durability.

if you like a light and lively blade the x60 is great for that.
