EQ5 Fit

Recommended Posts

Can anyone in canada comment on the fit/construction of these? I'm looking for something on the narrow/low cut side and while Eastons typically don't fit this niche, this boot looks to be cut different from their norm.

Bumping this to the top, can anybody compare the fit of these to the s17's shape wise? I can get them for an unreal price assuming I can find my size and loved how the s17 fit my foot.

I have worn both, S17 is wider in the forefoot but eq5 has a bigger toe cap. forefoot of the eq5 is a lot like the width of a graf 705 (comparable at least). same heel narrowness.

I know I've seen the EQ5 for cheap, but that is for a reason; problem skate. Why not grab another pair of S17's. Perani's has a bunch of sizes still available for $269.

@Flyer10 - could you explain what you mean by problem skate? I ask genuinely because I have been considering a pair. The fit is perfect for my foot, and I've heard only good things from those that have them. I'd definitely be interested in hearing your experience.

Halfmoonyote -When I tried them on compared to the S17 the heel lock was poor and that is the one thing I heard from a guy I met that had them and also read on some reviews. Now I think if you have a little wider heel then the S17 is designed for you could be ok. The S17 was pure lock down for my heel. But if you can get them cheap and have easy returns you might as well give them a shot.

The heel lock to me was very similar to the s17, my heel didn't move in either of them. owned both pairs

I was going to buy them from the shop I tried them on in. What's ironic is with the EQ5 I was immediately drawn to how well I felt the heel locked me in. I was also impressed by how well my foot fit in the boot, right out of the box. I've never owned Easton skates, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I have been skating in Mission XP120 for the past couple of years, and I've been trying on different things for awhile now and haven't found anything I love.

Not to go OT, but I went through a really expensive lesson with CCM skates a few months back. I bought a pair of U12. They felt pretty good in the shop, not 'perfect' but I was hell bent on buying them. Got them on the ice, didn't like the feel, spent the money to have Pitch 3 holders and steel mounted on thinking it would help replicate my Mission feel. Well, not only was that ridiculous, it was throwing good money after bad.

Anyway, to make a long story short...I definitely appreciate your feedback. It's always good to get the bad with the good.

Any skate the does not fit correctly will be a problem skate. If they fit, I say go for it. I have heard nothing but positive feedback from people who have worn them.

Compared to EQ40 I find the forefoot much narrower. I picked up an EQ5 as a backup pair. They had to be punched out at the forefoot. The heel lock is good and post punch the are pretty comfortable after 3 sessions.
