NHL network and VS (during hockey) promote it at least once an hour. I think there are a couple that could be the basis for a cheesy cartoon or comic, but they're just stretching on a lot of them. I think they're a couple years late as the comic book thing seems to be in the early stages of decline, but at least they're making some kind of attempt to do some non-traditional marketing.

I found it interesting that you have to go to facebook to see the characters -- they're not on the web page.

I feel like this could have been a good idea but is wayy too contrived. It's a way too obvious marketing scheme to bolster All-Star game ratings. Shame really since the concept had some potential.

NHL.com has them in the "top headlines" section at the bottom as Guardian project. If you click the bold letters it takes you to a picture of each released team. The video is for the team released today.

I think if done correctly this could work into something decent. Why not make a live mascot out of each one.

Keep in mind it's target audience is Kids. Not us. but young kids who like cartoons like that. We are not the ones they are trying to please.

I'm 40. I used to collect comic books (still have 'em). I like the weird/oddball stuff like this. I know it's a marketing gimmic. I don't care. If they do some books, trading cards, action figures, I'd add them to the collection.

But I also have a collection of snare drums that has no logical reason for me to have (I'm not a pro player) other than they are drums I always wanted & finances finally allowed me to have 'em. Yeah, I'm a big kid.

When will they announce an actual storyline or point to the comic guys? It seems so random. wow there is a villain great....must be a huge comic book following I am not aware of. This is a very disappointing all star game.. too bad the highlight happened Friday night. Almost like they decided they had a great concept with player draft and mailed it in after that.
