Lie Help and Warrior Widow

Recommended Posts

I am thinking of getting the new Warrior widow when it comes out but am a little hesitant due to the low lie's they offer.

Currently, I am using a One95 P92 lie 6. I would like to get the Gionta pattern but its only offered in a Lie 4.

How will this change my game? Will it matter or does it matter more the length you cut your stick at?

Also, with today's sticks there is a higher rocker where as I want my blade to be flat on the ice not pointing up at the toe.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The rocker was pretty flat on my Gionta. It was a hair flatter than my One95 p91a and that is listed as a lie6 with bauer.

I gave him the best approximation, a degree or two isn't a game breaker. Every company's lies are slightly different, that's why it's best to take a look at sticks in-store, and not online.

Warrior Lie 4 = Other companies' Lie 5

Warrior's 5 = Other's 6

Not true at all

So you know it isn't true but you repeat it anyway because it doesn't matter to you? Stop repeating bad information

Thanks for clearing that up for all of us, well what do you think is the best approximation? Most humblest apologies for my 'bad information' it was what I've been reading around and picking up from people, I THOUGHT it was true, I'm not trying to screw you guys over.

Because it doesn't matter to me? What the heck are you talking about..where'd you assume that from? :S

there's no rule of thumb for translating lie's from one company to another, but as a simple generalization warrior lies' are generally listed 1 less than the retail equivalent of other companies.

for example, the draper curve is a a clone of the p92 curve. the draper is listed as a lie 5 and the p92 is a lie 6. for all intents and purposes the two curves are essentially the same curve (not all companies have exactly the same curve patterns available).

you're gonna have to forgive the ambiguous language.

There is no formula for converting as the bigger the rocker, the less accurate the lie seems to be. A flat rocker will be close to the warrior number, a larger rocker (like Draper) will be farther off.

If you end up going with the lower lie Gionta, you may want to try it out with it slightly longer than your lie 6 P92 to compensate for the difference. However, it all depends on what you like and feel comfortable with.

+1

Chadd advised me of this recently and it is very true! I go about an inch shorter to go from 5.5 to 6 and an inch longer if I go from 5.5 to 5.

THANKS CHADD!

Ok so going from a higher lie to a lower lie I will want to keep it longer to compensate for the lower lie.

That's the general rule but, as mentioned above, the rocker will have an effect too. It varies with each stick/curve so you just have to figure it out if you were to buy the stick. You can't really give a set length to add if you're going from a Bauer lie 6 to a Warrior lie 4.

You definitely need to figure it out for yourself. But when adding length I recommend adding more then cutting down to where you like it. Otherwise you end up buying a lot of butt ends! Or if you do not need butt ends just cut 1/4 or 1/2 inch at a time until you find what is right.
