He's an arrogant douchebag and comes off as such. You can disagree with people without being so condescending. He doesn't like the changes to the game and it's pretty obvious that he's fighting them.

Holy crap you're right! While agree with his statements, it was hard to listen to that conversation without wanting to punch him in the face!

"No no no no no"

"You don't watch hockey"

Come on dude!

yeah, he came in guns blazing and tried to put it back on the hosts as being combative and him being on the defensive. This just made him look worse.

I will say that I do feel for him in that...when Dreger does an annonymous survey...GM's say they want a change...but according to Colie....he sat in a room with the GM's and all 30 said they wanted it laid out (no pun intended) differently than the Dreger survey indicates.

How can he possibly know what he's doing when his Board is going off the books to reporters but not to his face when he asks them for direction.

Makes you wonder just how true Dreger's anonymous survey really is. It wouldn't be the first time a reporter manufactured a story to further an agenda or put himself out in front of a story.

It's more likely that they changed their mind in the last year or they view that play as different from the one shown in the video in some way.

Possibly...But, he's not exactly a faceless web blogger. He's got a fair bit of respect among the fraternity of the NHL, no?

Maybe, when annonymous...the GMs' have no problem speaking their mind...and in a room of their peers they don't want to look like the softie that wants change.

Totally agree.

Didn't see it posted elsewhere. Can't say I blame him on some points

Whereas it certainly would have made him look worse to most people, I kind of agree there.

Sure, it's not a really good way to answer an interview on Colin's part, but the hosts were obviously not listening to him either: CC talks about how the NHL and the GMs got together and talked over what hits would be legal and what hits would be illegal, and asks the hosts what was wrong about the Torres hit no.2. And the hosts response is "what was the question again?" That's not a great way to make an interview either.

And if the anonymous GMs really didn't want to "look like the softie", well then they aren't the guys that are going to change the game anyway, are they. Talk about whining...

Campbell came into the interview with a chip on his shoulder. He was looking for a fight and he was going to make sure he got one. In a position like that, you have to have thick skin and he obviously doesn't. In any case, the end result is that he comes off looking arrogant, impatient and combative. It's no wonder why the NHL doesn't make him available for more interviews. It's hard to believe that he is able to hold such a lofty a position in a multi-billion dollar business like the NHL.

I find it hard to sympathize with Campbell while we see such inconsistency in the application of the rules. It also doesn't help when he explains why a hit doesn't fit the application of the new rule (48.1?), as justification for no sanction from the league, and doesn't bother to address why sanctions shouldn't apply based on any other rule.
