They're not doing well financially and they've always had a tight purse to begin with. Coupled with Larsson wearing old Supras, it just doesn't surprise me coming from NJ. Keep in mind they did not partake in the Reebok deal, so it's not like they have a ton of Reebok equipment sitting around.

I believe those are his brother's gloves. He was wearing those while playing with Albany and I noticed they had his name on the cuff.

What's "the Reebok deal"?

Good call.

When the NHL/AHL deal with Reebok was struck, the Devils organization wasn't on board. That's why they never wore EDGE-cut jerseys. Part of the agreement is that teams get a Reebok equipment credit every year.

Same for NYR I guess? If I'm not mistaken, they still have old CCM/Jofa practice jerseys. Either way, this is not very surprising, Lou has always done things ''his way'' it seems

This is just a result of Lou not buying new practice jerseys. The Center Ice jerseys have to be from the Mid-90s.

Actually, no, it was from the 2000s. That's a Jofa practice jersey, when The Hockey Company consolidated the league again.

The silver NHL shield was a dead giveaway

Or the sizing on the front hem...they were the only ones to do that. Back in the 90s the main logo on practice jerseys was the Center Ice patch.

Good call. Those old Center Ice jerseys did have the logos in the middle from the 90s. Although they did have sizing numbers on the front hem.

The jersey that Kovalchuk is wearing looks pre-lockout due to the NHL shield being slanted down instead of upwards.

IIRC, NYR has their jerseys sewn at the bottom to make it look like they are that style, to keep with tradition.

Nike is fine as long as they keep it traditional. No piping, no rounded hem, no cookie cutter templates, no ''revolutionary fabric that makes you 28% faster'' etc
