IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted September 23, 2011 I recently bought a pair of Bauer 4-Roll gloves, but I really don't like how loose they are. The gloves I had before them were the Vapor X:40s, which I liked, but they were too big (I was wearing 14" at the time). I could probably go back to 13" X:40s but I figured I'd try something new. I like the gloves being form fitting, and while I really don't need the protection of the TotalOnes, the memory foam on the back of the hand is really intriguing. I didn't see TotalOnes in the reviews section, so I was wondering if anyone has experience with them. Is the memory foam helpful?I'm also looking at other more form-fitting gloves. I hear the Easton EQ50s are supposed to be pretty form-fitting as well. Can anyone comment on that? Comparisons?I'm certainly going to try them in store, but I'd like to hear from some people who have actually used these various form-fitting gloves and get their opinions. Thanks! althoma1 575 Report post Posted September 23, 2011 I also prefer form fitting gloves. I have demoed TotalOnes, X60s, and 2010 RBK 10ks. I also owned RBK 9KN's and still own Bauer One90, 2010 Combat 52 Cal gloves and Warrior Projekts. I also have a pair of Luxe's I was lucky enough to win at the last modsquad event, but I haven't used those yet.For my personal taste, these are my top 3:1. Warrior Projekts - these are my main gloves for ice and I use them in my league games. They're form fitting in the fingers and back roll, but open up nicely at the cuff. They're also very light and extremely protective. Well ventalated with a nice comfortable liner. They feel VERY tight when you first use them, but break in nicely (still form fitting, but a little less tight and more comfortable after about 5-10 games). Definitely my favourite glove.2. Bauer One90s - these used to be my primary gloves for ice, but now I use them mainly for roller. I love the stretch palm and they're very well ventilated.3. 2010 RBK 10Ks - I really liked the flex cuff as it allows for great wrist mobility while still providing good protection.I have used the Combat 52 Cal gloves (last year's model) as I picked them up on clearance. The liner isn't as nice as any of the other gloves, but I do like the fit and the tripple split fingers. They also still look like new after a few pickup games and seem like they will be very durable. They're a bit heavier than the Projekts and One90s. The cuff is also longer and less flexible and they're less form fitting (although not as loose as a traditional 4-roll).The Luxe is a very comfortable glove and should be at least as protective as the Projekts, but the back roll is wider than the Projekts and I prefer a slimer fit. The Projekt gloves also match my team colours perfectly so that's another reason I haven't donned the Luxe's yet. They're very nice gloves, but aren't as tight as the Projekts. The X60s are also a nice comfortable glove, but aren't as tight as the Supreme series gloves. If I was comparing Warrior and Bauer gloves then the Luxe would be similar to the X60 and the Supreme similar to the Projekts. They aren't exactly the same, but the Luxe and X60 both have a tapered, but more generous fit and the Supreme and Projekt have a tighter fit.The TotalOne is similar to the One90, but I don't think the cuff is as flexible as the One90. Also, the stretch material on the fingers of the One90s comes away from the protective pieces and the TotalOne is also missing that feature. I didn't really notice the memory foam, but only used them for about 15 minutes. The TotalOnes are nice gloves and are reminiscent of the One90s, but based on the very brief demo I still prefer both my Projekts and One90s.The RBK 9KN gloves weren't as tight as either the Supremes or Projekts and the feel wasn't as good due to the shock pad. The feel was improved with the 2010 RBK 10K gloves and I really do love the flex cuff. I also tried on the 2011 RBK 11K gloves and they're comfortable, but aren't as form fitting as the 2010 10Ks.You may still be able to find some 2010 10Ks on clearance and you should definitely be able to find Projekts since it's a current model. You'll only be able to find used One90s, but you can try on the TotalOnes to see how you like them.

Vapors are form fitting in the fingers/upper hand, but really flare out at the cuff, TOs are pretty tight throughout, even in the cuff. Another glove that fits similar to the TOs would be the new Eagle Talon. I've tried on the EQ50s and remember them feeling very comfy, but can't remember the specifics of the fit. Definitely a form fitting glove, but can't remember exactly how loose the cuff area was.Personally, I love the Vapor fit, and the nicest gloves I've ever tried on (according to my personal preference, obviously) are the Vapor X60 pros, which are similar to the normal X60s but without all the useless, nasty gimmicks. I don't have the money to splurge on new gloves at the moment, but when my current NBH Vapors die I'll be switching to the X60 pros without a doubt. Hopefully Apx gloves will be out by then, so I can get them on clearance :)
Rockingsquat 4 Report post Posted September 23, 2011 I still can not understand how bauer can ask 150USD such a poorly made glove ? They feel as tight as the one95 if not more (which are themselves rather a lot tighter than the original one90)You may wanna check the new eagle talon, made oversea as well but at least a decent manufacturing. I reckon they don't feel as snug and nice as the supreme tho.
gerbe3:16 19 Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Althoma, great post with valuable input.Still love my One90s. That stretch palm is something else and is still going strong for me but I go way out of my way to take care of it (plus I play once a week). I saw the Projekts over at TSR and tried them on and they felt pretty fantastic - maybe my next pair of gloves if the wife allows.
BoDangles 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2011 Coming from someone who has rather long fingers, compared to hand length. I find the TotalOnes to be extremely tight, they were even tight fitting for me in 15". The EQ50's are not quite as tight as the TotalOnes, they offer a little more room in the hand and fingers. I saw the Projekts over at TSR and tried them on and they felt pretty fantastic - maybe my next pair of gloves if the wife allows. The One90s were my favourite gloves until I started using the Projekts and they're still my second favourite pair. Mine are getting a bit worn too as I used to use tape on my sticks, but before I started using the Projekts I either put Tacki Mac grips (I have ribbed and the Kane version and prefer the Kane) or Oggie grips on all my ice and roller sticks/shafts. The palm wear on the new gloves I've used since then (Projekts and Combat gloves) is minimal.I've tried on the Eagle Talons in the store and like the fit on the hand, but the cuff felt very restrictive (unlike the One90s snug, but flexible cuff and the flexible cuff on the Projekts). Now that's just based on trying them on - they may be fine on the ice. There's a thread on those gloves with some feedback from people who have actually used them. IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted September 24, 2011 Wow, so much good info!I have to say, the Warrior Projekts are god-awful ugly, but I suppose that should be the last thing on my mind. I liked the vapor fit, but I actually think I might like something snugger. I actually find myself often pushing my 4-rolls back up onto my hand. Theyre so loose, that I often have a good 1/2 inch or so on the tips of all my fingers because they slip off so much. If you didnt notice the memory foam making much of a difference, then I'd likely step it down to the One80. I'm a div 5 beer leaguer and really don't need anything too crazy here.. I only considered the TotalOne because I thought the memory foam might make for a great fit. althoma1: I love the kane grip, i just wish they made the kane grip with a small half inch knob (instead, I wrapped a 1/2 inch knob around the top of my stick and put the kane grip over it). Thanks for all the input everyone - I suppose I'll just have to see if I like a tight cuff or not. IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted October 5, 2011 So I finally made it to my not-so-LHS today. Tried on every single model of glove they had.I found that any "4-roll" that wasn't bauer (reebok, franchise, and Easton EQ) seemed to fit nice and snug, but I felt a lot of pressure on my knuckles when I squeezed a stick. This probably would have worked in eventually and been no problem, but as there were a few gloves that fit well right there and then, I skipped them.I tried the Projekt gloves as was suggested. I liked them for the most part, but found that some of the flex points just didn't match well with my hand.I tried on the TotalOne gloves, and found that I couldn't even tell the memory foam was there. No sense in spending $150 on gloves for a feature that sounds good but I don't even notice.I actually liked the feeling of the Mission gloves I tried on, but they were god-awful ugly and while I know looks shouldnt be #1 with protective equipment, it still means something to me.I didn't like the Eagles at all what so ever.So really it came down to bauer vapor vs bauer supreme. No question the fit of the vapor was better overall, but I only liked the x:60 Pro. The x:30 and x:40 just seemed cheap in comparison (I started with X:40s originally). So, since the TotalOne was more than I needed, and the memory foam was unnoticable, I decided to look at the couple models down. Honestly, I didn't see a huge difference between the One60 and the One80. Maybe the construction of the One80 is better, I don't know.So it came down to One60 vs X:60 Pro. The price tags made up that decision for me. $150 for the X:60 Pro vs $75 for the One60.So I wound up with the One60s, and I'm very happy with my decision - especially since I know I spent a lot of time considering and trying on all available options. It's rewarding when you make a purchase after doing research vs impluse buying and regretting it later ;)On another note, I know I've mentioned my issues with my current RBK 8K skates. My feet kill me if I tie them even remotely tight, I fail the pencil test miserably, and I'm pretty sure I need something wider than the 9E I'm in now. The guys at the store suggested Graf or CCM, and pointed out a stack of clearance Graf G3s. They had a 9W for $300 and they fit like a glove. In my RBKs, my feet hurt just standing in them walking out to the bench before a game. These felt like a nice pair of shoes. No pain. But... no money for skates right now :( It was painful walking away from them :(Thanks everyone for helping me out with my gloves and skates :)
th6252 25 Report post Posted October 5, 2011 congrats on the gloves.but as for the grafs, you sure they were g3's and not g9's or g7's? the g3's are one of the shallowest, narrowest boots on the market, polar opposite of any reebok skate.sounds like you need to look into ccm, supreme, or flexlite. IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted October 5, 2011 They were definitely G3s. Either way, I think I'll wait. I don't have $300 to drop on skates any time soon. Perhaps when the time comes, I'll look into buying a pair of last years model Grafs or CCMs and have them properly fitted. It was probably a good thing that I didn't make a $300 impulse buy. They felt good, but who knows if I would have been happy with them, long term.
s_franchise 5 Report post Posted October 5, 2011 i have a pair of the one80's and they've been awesome. the only thing i worry about is the green lycra stripe in the middle of the palm. so i havent seen any wear on my palms [using tacki macs.] they're super comfy and really feel light weight through the whole game. I do agree that the newest Supreme series have shorter fingers too.Yeah, they're the only Eagle glove I've ever been comfortable trying on, too bad they're ugly as sin. Surprisingly the new CL line of gloves from CCM fit really well, the only thing that I'm unsure about is the cuff, really stiff. Congrats Opitmus, new surpreme line is really good looking. IPv6Freely 2100 Report post Posted June 1, 2012 Sorry for the necro... just figured I'd update the original thread rather than start a new one.I have to say, the Warrior Projekts are god-awful ugly, but I suppose that should be the last thing on my mind.I've since switched to X:60 Pro's because they have my team colors (Maine). Can't find Maine colors in the Supreme line (Some older One95s had them, but I cant find any). So now that the 2012 Projekts AREN'T god-awful ugly AND come in Maine colors, I'm going to pick up a pair of those. I miss the tightness of my One60s and can't wait for the Projekts. I just can't find them anywhere, yet :(
viktorv 0 Report post Posted June 2, 2012 thank god my EG50s are my team colours, because they fit great and have microfobial material so they dont stink as much as some other gloves. the fit is the best part, snug but they feel like they are molded to my hands, hard to describe the feeling, but it feels like i have no gloves on as they are such a great fit but still benefit from the protection when I wear them. also they do have a flexible cuff with velcro on it. all hands are different though.. mine look square sorta .. good choice still on warriors
