Top pad on shin guard; how to keep it from catching your pants?

I just picked up a pair of jofa 8060 shin guards and that damn pad that extends above the knee cup keeps catching my pants ( my pants keep getting stuck behind it.). I am sure this is not just my problem; any suggestions to resolve this issue would be appreciated? Anyone cut that pad off? Thanks

Some cut it off, some tape it down, some don't have problems with it.

I think if the pad is broken in and if your socks are tight enough, you shouldn't have any problems. Maybe try bending the pad repeatedly to break it in and make sure that your socks are not loose in that area. The length of your pants might play a roll too.

i taped my down for the longest time, then after a while they just 'broke in' and molded to my leg properly.

just wear proper socks and garterbelt. I see people who tape their socks above the shinpad getting their pants under the kneeflap all the time, looks horrible.

I tucked mine into the shin pad itself so it wouldn't pop up as high. After a bit it became less of a problem but at first it was constantly snagging on my pants.

Never had an issue with it and I've been using a compression pant/jock combo for more than ten years. Then again, I wear Tacklas and they have a pretty wide leg.

I have my pants unzipped at the thigh and they are plenty wide and I never thought of them as being too short. I don't know, it's freaking annoying. I'll try some of your tips. Anyone just cut them off?

EDGE socks are tight. I remember reading on one of the other threads that Tron socks are super tight and a good price

Some folks cut them off. Seems to me I've seen quite a few pro stock shinguards for sale with the top tabs cut off. I haven't had a problem, but it may exist just with some shinguard/pants combos, at certain pants lengths.

I haven't seen Tron socks without the Tron name -- is advertising required?

i cut them off my rbk 6ks with just a pair of household scissors, not a big deal at all. Worked like a charm. I had had the same problem as you, getting caught even when my pants were unzipped at the thigh.

make sure the top part of your socks are stretched making the top flap stick to your leg. the ones Ive seen with this issue have all taped their socks to their legs above the shin pad whereas it slides down and the sock gets "floppy" allowing th shinpad flap getting caught by the pants.
