Non-hockey hockey gear? What's in your bag

Recommended Posts

Extra laces, jock, and helmet screws are a great idea to toss in there. I have all those but at home, where it wouldn't be of any use if I were to need them while at the rink.

Leatherman is always on my keys and I do keep my sharpening stone in the bag. Those are always popular in the dressing room. As well as a 30 rack of cold ones.

pocketknife, emt scissors(cuts anything), bottle opener, hand sanitizer, saline(10ml ampules for contacts), mouthwash(travel size), laundry bag(wet undergarments, etc) pillowcase (helmet bag), pens, small first aid kit. Why all the stuff? It's all things I've found to need at some time or other. Any liquids are stored in a ziplock bag, other items in a blaze orange mesh bag. I also lined my bag bottom with a velcro lime green panel. One of my pet peeves is that trying to find anything in a cavernous black bag is difficult. I may look into buying a red bag next time.

Great idea.

Why they make the inside of sports bags black is one of life's mysteries.

I remember seeing on some military show that the inside of all rucksacks and duffel bags in the military are now lined in yellow so its easier to see in the dark. I hope the trend comes to hockey bags.

that would be a great idea! they should use the highlighter yellow that is warrior's shilvershield color. could serve another purpose as well which would be an anti-bacterial lining.

One great thing about my NESSI pro bag is: it's one big pocket, lined with a light grey interior, so finding stuff is easy. The only essential non-hockey piece of equipment is a dry bag, like the kind used for camping/boating etc. It's waterproof TPU, so if my shampoo/contact solution breaks open I only have to clean out that dry bag, and not my equipment bag and all my gear.

Things I usually have in my bag - tape (lots of), extra laces, more tape, eyeglasses case, asthma inhaler, regular medication, sometimes a tin of bandaids, leatherman/multitool, cellphone, wallet, some sort of food (clif bar, PB&J sandwich).

Like everybody else, like extra stuff that people forget (me the first), candles, tools. I alway have my heat gun for last minute or between period blade changes or to defrost my equipment because I only got a little appartment so my hockey bag stays in the locker outside. Northern Quebec is cold as hell thes month so I usually come 45 minutes before the game and heat some of my equipment with the heat gun (gloves, skates, jock...).
