Lightest Pant - Rec league non contact

Recommended Posts

I play in a non contact beer league and I dont need a pant with a ton of protection, all I want is the lightest pant I can find. Low end, high end, doesnt really matter. Ive heard Tacklas are really light? but also some lower end pants are as well with less protection. What do you guys suggest?

Thanks

Thank yo for the reply TML. I do wonder if a very high end pant will be lighter than a few stages under it, but probably the same weight as a lower end pant, but obviously different protection

I'll second the low end Vapor pants. I've had a pair of Vapor VI's playing higher tier men's league and they've held up for 4 years. Very little protection but enough in key areas plus great durability and mobility.

you want light?

go to Pure Hockey. They are selling Bauer Pro Stock bottoms.

Not much upper protection but light as hell

Was in the Braintree store. Does Pure Hockey do phone orders?

Have to check my receipt but believe they were 49$

I'm using a mission thorax flow girdle with an eagle shell and the only thing I feel is a cool breeze while I'm skating : ) I wouldn't make a habit of going out of your way to block a shot though. The thigh pads have ok protection but everything else may not be up to par

A higher end pant may be close in weight but it also may feel more bulky due to the added protection.

You might be better off going with a mid level pant with good mobility. That way you can stay fairly light without sacrifcing protection.

I have a pair of CCM U+ 03s. Minimal protection, maximum mobility. They were less than $40, too.

Like you, I go for comfort and mobility now that I play beer league.

i have a mesh/foam mission roller girdle with a shell. thats the lighest option, sometimes i feel like im skating naked

Was thinking of going with this setup myself. However did you size the shell in comparison to the girdle? The same size or did you get the shell a size bigger?

Yup I'm wearing X:30's.. just don't fall on your ass! lol no padding whatsoever!

Definitely +1 on the X:30s. They are what I started with, and they were super light and comfortable... but at that skill level you fall on your ass WAY too much. I don't fall much anymore, so I almost wish I had my X:30s back!

same size shell, maybe even a size down. anything bigger i think would be obnoxious

I also play in a beer league but I was looking for the lightest pants (not girdle) WITH adequate protection and not low end... After checking out Vapor XXXX, Tackla, One80 and Easton S19, I went with S19. Super light and great protection...

Ditto. The new CL is ridiculously light with full pro level protection and a two piece unit just like pro pants.
