Cammalleri told to pay for MTL jersey to keep it

Recommended Posts

The price wasn’t right: Let’s go back to the night on Jan. 12 when the Canadiens were playing the Boston Bruins. Between the second and third periods, general manager Pierre Gauthier told Michael Cammalleri to take off his uniform and return to the team hotel because he had been traded. Gauthier said he couldn’t tell Cammalleri where he was going because the trade – to Calgary for Rene Bourque – had yet to be completed. A stunned Cammalleri asked if he could keep his game jersey as a souvenir of the good times in Montreal. No problem, said Gauthier, as long as he was willing to pay for it. When Vicki Hall of the Calgary Herald asked Cammalleri about the incident this week, the sniper replied: “I can neither confirm nor deny it.” If Cammalleri had confirmed it, he would have revealed that the asking price was $1,250.

The Canadiens used to have a deal with Mei-Gray, a U.S. company that sells game-worn jerseys, but the team now handle sales through the Canadiens boutique and online. If Cammalleri still wants the jersey, it’s available for $600

That's amazing, The man was part of the reason that they were able to be a multi-million dollar business. Even if selling jerseys is a regular occurrence that leads to a few hundred thousand dollars annually, you'd think common sense would intervene and someone would know to let the guy have a souvenir for his time with the team.

Good thing Gauthier is gone, but I have a feeling they're going to hire another terrible GM, only because of Quebec's inability to get over the fact that not everyone speaks French.

yeah...absolute beastmode (until this season but the whole team fell apart) and that magical run to the ECF a few years back never happens without him...im pretty sure he was stilll leading in playoff goals even after the finals. being a bs fan i used to get nervous everytime the puck got thrown to the right dot/circle on their pp, hes money on that drop down one knee one timer. guy is a pure sniper

Does Gauthier have a Gear Exchange membership? I'll bet he could sell it here.

CBJ, the Habs and the Leafs must be in a competition to see who is the most dysfunctional organization in the NHL. You expect kids to act more mature and use common sense in times of duress. Just goes to show you that there is always room to grow as an individual.

players always comment about certain organizations being classy - apparently there are some other organizations that aren't

im sure word gets around between nhl players and they are well aware of the different teams reputations

Cammalleri's comments about the team's ''loser mentality'' weren't exactly classy either. Pot, meet kettle

By the way there's already a thread about the Canadiens: http://www.modsquadhockey.com/forums/index.php?/topic/59343-montreal-canadiens-2011-2012-thread/
