footbed help

Recommended Posts

Skating in eq50's. The easton footbeds did not give me enough arch support. Replaced them with superfeet wich solved the arch problem but decreased the volume in the skate. Can anyone recommend a footbed with good arch support that will not change the volume in the skate. thanks

If Superfeet dont work for you, the Graf SIDAS are the next best thing.. but I think Superfeet are as good as youre going to get as far as volume.

Before I went to the yellow superfeet I was using the grey shock doctors. Though some say they are lower quality I liked them better. More volume in the fore foot and good arch support. I will be going back to them.

Agreed. I went from SF Yellow to SIDAS in my EQ50. For me they work perfectly and would recommend them, but they do take up volume, especially in the arch area. The thickness of the SIDAS throughout the heel and the forefoot is quite consistent with the SF. If I get a chance I'll try to take a picture of the SF next to the Graf SIDAS. No experience w Shock Doctor insoles.

Here are some pictures of the following insoles:

  • Graf SIDAS Custom (black)
  • Superfeet Yellow (...yellow)
  • Easton EQ50 factory (red)

The coin (for thickness comparison) is a Canadian quarter.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to see the difference between the insoles from the pictures - but it's worth a shot.

I'll try to get some pics of the insoles in the EQ50 skate next time...

Also, the Graf SIDAS will take up more or less volume in the arch depending on how high the arch of your foot is and how much support you need in that area.... This one is fit to my foot - yours will be different.

I'll also note that out of the three insoles, comparing the thickness at the front (toebox), the Graf SIDAS Custom was the thinnest, the Easton EQ50 slightly thicker, and the Superfeet Yellow the thickest.

Keep in mind that all of these have been skated on, so I may have compressed the materials a bit already.

I thought the black were the thinnest Superfeet but even the black has a thicker forefoot area than most stock insoles. If you have an REI or similar hiking/recreational store near you many will have demo sizes of all the standard superfeet models (black, blue, green, orange, women's versions). May not have the Yellow though. REI doesn't.
