J-Shera 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 Some of you mite remember that I have like the worst knee's ever. Smeone here i cant remember who but they called me glass knees. anyways my worst injurt was a dislocated right knee cap and a torn mcl and acl. To this day my knee is not the same, I have to wear a don joy knee brace and after every game the pain in my knee is enought to keep me off my feet for the whole night. Ive also torn my acl and spraind my mcl in my left knee, broke a collor bone and to many more injuries to list.
joshy207 15 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 I tore each ACL once, each time was a freak accident, no contact to the knee. Also took 2 pucks to the right eye, the second time it broke my orbital bone underneath my eyeball and alongside my nose. I had to have surgery to put a piece of teflon underneath my eyeball to cover the hole in the bone. My vision came back almost completely, I was very lucky. The doc said he didn't know how I didn't lose the whole eye... Needless to say, I wear a full cage again.
tyler33 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 I've never been seriously hurt at all until this season's last game. I got hit from behind on a cheap shot when the puck was like 10 feet away from me and got a mild concussion and a really bad knee contusion. That was not a hit from behind. You were skating up ice full speed, and was looking back for the puck, and the pass went inbetween your skates, and the kid hit you. If you would have caught the pass, it would have been a perfectly fine hit.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 You're not allowed to hit a guy from behind, even if he has the puck.
tyler33 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 You're not allowed to hit a guy from behind, even if he has the puck. Yea I know that, but it was not a check in the back. Ethan had his head turned looking back for the puck. The kid had the timing down but it was a bad pass and Ethan didn't catch it, and the kid hit him right as the puck was going through his skates. Shorthanded67 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 Broken ankle from blocked shot, dislocated shoulder, lost tooth, broken nose, badly bruised tailbone. Worst thing may be the dislocated shoulder because once it pops out once, it pops out easier each time. At work, if I lift any boxes 40 lbs.+ above my head, I can feel the shoulder wanting to pop out of its socket and have to re-situate the way I lift.As ljack, my knees are really torn up. I've worn down a lot of cartilage under my knees and I may have a touch of arthritis. Let's just say I know when the weather is going to change.
jay 1 Report post Posted April 4, 2004 My worst hockey injury was just two months ago when I sprained my lower back causing all kinds of spasm and irritation. I just played yesterday for the first time in ages. It's still a little sore but for the most part is finally healed up. My worst overall injury was a nasty dislocated ankle and busted leg that happened while skateboarding. Happened on NYE 1999 so I spent the night in the hospital waiting to have surgery the next morning. There's nothing quite like looking down at your foot and seeing it beside your leg with the toes pointing at your face. The funniest thing was once I finally hit the grown and came to a stop I grabbed my foot and tried to move it back. Then came the "holy f%#k my leg!"
ambro 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Tyler, you couldn't have been watching the game if that's what you think happened. I was skating full speed , you're right about that. But then I completely turned around and was skating backwards. The pass wasn't even to me either. It was at least 10 feet, maybe even 15 to my left and the guy hit me from behind right as I turned to chase after the puck. And yes, Kostday, I guess you could say someone gave me a suicide pass, but it was a terrible pass if it was intended for me. The team we played didn't make a clean hit in any of the 3 games we played them during the season. Just a cheap tema overall.
Dan_The_Man_16 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I just had one of mine, tore that muscle behind my shoulder blade. I'm not even going to try and spell it, although it's posted on this board somewhere. Also, broken hand (twice), cracked ribs, broken foot, broken wrist. I guess this all has to do with our teams motto, "your not playing hard enough unless the trainer has to go out on the ice". lol
GekigangarIII 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Broke 7 bones in my right hand including shattering my scaphoid (rotator in the hand right behind the thumb). Was in a cast for a year and a half. The trauma of not being able to use my hand for a year and a half obviously sparked my glove fetish ;) Also, last season tore my groin pretty badly. Had to go to through PT for 6 months on that one... funny thing about it, in the workout room they have stuff on the walls from players that have been to the center for treatment, they had like 3 Forsberg autographed jerseys with thanks on them and my tech told me that he was in for his groin as well.. lol.and PS, shock therapy on the groin is NOT fun. bdj 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 I got elbowed in the chin 4 games ago in the city finals. I went to the bench and passed out, from which then the ref made me sit in the box for a 10 min penalty for unsportsmanlike but I wasnt even awake. WHen I did wake up it was an hour and a half later where I was in a hospital bed with a bruised jaw and a big concussion. Not alot of fun. I also got whiplash and had to wear a neck brace for 3 days. I still have trouble moving me neck and I cant do anything sports wise for a couple months still:/

GekigangarIII 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 checked into boards, hand slips off stick, hand twists towards me, hand meets stick and boards and me at the same time... hand loses... :o on the positive, I can now eat, type, shave and wipe my butt with my left hand.. ;)the bad thing was, I had to drive a stick at the time... trying to shift with a half-arm cast is not fun
Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted April 5, 2004 Worst thing I ever get is bruises, Once i got hit along the edge of the boards at the benches and it tore chunks of skin off the tops of my fingers, so I got new gloves and it hasn't happened since. Sometimes I have this bad pain inbetween my thumb and index finger after being hit so I don't know if it is sprained or what. If it is I didnt know you could sprain inbetween your fingers. headonaswivel 1 Report post Posted April 6, 2004 Broken ankle from blocked shot, dislocated shoulder, lost tooth, broken nose, badly bruised tailbone. Worst thing may be the dislocated shoulder because once it pops out once, it pops out easier each time. At work, if I lift any boxes 40 lbs.+ above my head, I can feel the shoulder wanting to pop out of its socket and have to re-situate the way I lift. Yup. dislocated it in Midget AAA, and over the last 7 years it got to the point that it would pop out daily. Lost a lot of weight from not training, and every time I played, it would pop out during the game, sometimes from just reaching out for a puck, or grabbing onto a guy. I then broke my wrist in the playoffs that same year in Midget, and on the same play took weight on my knee and it swelled up like a grapefruit, so i had a cast and crutches . That sucked. Tore my groin in my first session of Jr tryouts. Took a bit of physio at the time, but now it bothers me every day. After heavy leg training or running it hurts and makes a click right at the inner point of the hip. Oh yeah, also got punched in Jr so hard it broke the chin strap off my helmet. The concussion that followed made me lose vision and get a sick migraine every time I was in a room that was dark after being outside. Plus a tooth and a stitch or 3. Annnnd to top it all off, I tore the inner head of my right bicep. But played the rest of the game because i thought it was just sore> bumps and bruises are part of the game, so I didn't think to look at it. Looked like a golf ball hit me , there was a huge depression in the middle of it. I keep remembering injuries that I lost track of.
Hogs 25 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I fell about like Kariya did and broke the fibula and tore the ligaments that hold the bones together in the ankle. Had surgery to put in a 3 inch screw to hold the bones together for 3 months and then had another surgery to have it taken out. Was off skates for 6 months to the day. Vapor 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I have been pretty lucky. Few sprained ankles, bruised hands, and a minor concussion is about it. I do get pretty badly bruised just about every game though. I sit in front of the net, get the crap kicked out of me, go in the corners, same thing. Mostly my elbows and forearms get the brunt. (no elbow pads). Plus the fact that im using 10" junior shin pads.
Icedog03 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 In the past 4 years Ive had 4-5 concussions, a Broken collar bone and 19 stitches in my right arm. JR, it pains me to tell you this, but if its popping out on pokechecks, and when you sleep, well my friend those are tell tale signs of a torn labrum. Both of those symptoms accomponied my torn labrum, especially if you wake up and its out of the socket.Arthroscopic surgery is the only option. It sucks, but 6 months post surgery all is well. JR Boucicaut 3803 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 Hmm...it doesn't hurt however...it's really more of a nuisance than anything else. However, there are certain things I cannot do...I really cannot lift weights and I can't pull sticks out of shafts or adjust Bauer 5000 helmets right out of the box! It actually hurts then.Shit, 6 mos?

cameltaur 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2004 I had an avulsion of the lesser trocanter, which in layman's terms means that my hip flexor, instead of tearing, ripped part of my growth plate off my femur and up about an inch towards my left hip. Not pleasant, I don't recommend it. Especially the day before a snowboarding trip to Whistler.
