Knock Out The Lockout

Recommended Posts

If you happen to be in the Twin Cities, stop off at Tom Reid's in St. Paul for a Knock Out The Lockout party. :)

A bunch of Wild fans getting together to support the local businesses in St. Paul and to have a good time with other hockey fans! :D

I couldnt wear my Wings jersey to work, but I got a pack of buttons that I passed out. I should have gotten more there was a lot of interest in them. I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that spread the word and made KOTL bigger than I thought it could be. It was just, what I thought was a silly idea, that got spread around the world. Thanks guys for making that possible.

Now we need to make some "Hockey fan in Mourning" buttons/tshirts because it's going to be a long winter without HNIC.

Thanks again guys...See ya in Vegas!!

It's started hitting me the last month or so. I come home, and there's nothing on. Like I am a die-hard Leafs fan and I try to watch their games whenever possible, whether, at home, the bar or the misses, but it stinks sitting around at like 9ish and knowing you can't flip to a game on TSN or somewhere regardless of who would be playing. It's almost like a fallback when nothing is going on, plus its cheaper than going out to hang out with friends.

I've been working in the shop every night for the last month or so. It couldn't have happened at a more convenient time for me.

...If you're in Detroit, you could take the "short" drive to Ann Arbor and go see a University of Michigan game. You can't beat the atmosphere you get when you're at a big game in Yost Arena. The hockey is pretty damn good, too.

The GLI is at the Joe next weekend. LET'S GO BLUE!

It hasn't been too terrible for me either. I play in leagues Sunday night through Thursday nights so that's kept me busy. And even if there was a season, playing hockey usually wins over watching hockey for me.

One cool thing they are doing locally here (in St. Louis) is playing "classic" Blues games every Wednesday night. They are a bit trimmed down to squeeze them into a 2hr. time frame but seeing some games from the early 80's that I missed out on has been fun. Several favorites are the "Monday Night Miracle" from 1986 (Blues comeback win over Calgary in playoffs) and a classic Blues/Redwings game in which both teams got into a massive brawl that ended with Curtis Joseph pounding Tim Cheveldae. Also featured Bob Probert manhandling two Blues players simultaneously.

ive spent quite a few nights in yost. we used to have season tickets back when i was in middle school and high school. i will always support college hockey, but i would rather drive a half hour and catch a spits game at the old barn in windsor.

A couple years back, we did a tour of UofM athletic facilities because one of my coaches went to the school. After we smoked the local michigan team :D , we went to a maize and blue game. The atmosphere was amazing with the band and all the chants. They kept saying SIV and I didnt even know what it meant at the time. Now I keep up with college hockey at collegesports.com. They have video highlights and everything. Also on fridays, leafs tv and the nhl network plays some games.

"Sieve, sieve, sieve, sieve, sieve! It's all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault! It's all your fault!" (There are too many other great ones to get into - once I start I'll never stop)

College hockey has some of the best chants in any sport at any level. Not really so much at the smaller schools (NU games are dead - usually get around 700 people who are usually quiet throughout the entire game), but once you go to a place like Yost, where the place is filled beyond legal capacity every weekend, you hear some crazy, crazy stuff.

The other good michigan one is "If you can't get into college go to state, go to state!"

Evil one from BU/Umaine..

"The wheels on your house go round and round, round and round, round and round. The wheels on your house go round and round round and round, round and round, because yooooou're white traaaaaash."
