Your Best Hockey Road trip ever

Recommended Posts

Out to Ottawa for a tournament. NYC for the Chelsea Challenge comes in second only because of the bus trip/terminal, but it was my first time at any hockey tournament, really well run and a lot of fun.

What's funny is I was about to say, "My trip to New Zealand with Kerry Goulet, whom I think you know...."

Apparently so!

Yupper sure do will be at the HHOF with him Thursday for the release of his and Keiths book. And then next June off to Australia with the group. Are you going to that?

I'm supposed to be in Toronto for the HHOF Induction Weekend. After that, I'm not sure what I'll be doing, I've invested with Kerry, so I'm a small partner in 29 Sports and Stop Concussions, but it still needs to be in the budget for me to come along on some of these excursions.

Have you ever been around during the HHOF Weekend? Is it possible that we've met?

Hi Guys,

i have a great road trip every year when we go to training camp. We drive about 200 miles to swiss and spend a whole weekend there practicing a few times and enjoy the time with your teammates just away from everything you know. it´s always been a great trip every year.

My mens league team had gone to Montreal 6 years in a row. The collection of stories and memories are endless. I'd share some stories but out of respect to man, woman, animal and the laws of several states and countries, I must maintain my silence.

Back in the day? I had to chuckle, guess I didn't realize just how old you are.

It's not just you. I always smile when I hear that phrase from someone less than half the age of some of my equipment.

Possibly I have done many events with Kerry over the years. Starting with the first event about concussions.

HNA Nationals in Toronto last May.

A good amount of our team flew from STL to Buffalo then drove up to Toronto, what a blast.

Went out the night before the tournament started and we had a guy have one too many "soadies" and he fell asleep while on the toilet.

Although, I'm sure these long road trips are heck of a-lot more fun when your winning.

We did out first team road-tournament a year or two ago. Half the team drove down to AZ (from OR) in a tour bus type deal to play in an ice tourney. We took a TV and hooked up an XBOX to play NHL12 all the way down. We just rotated drivers and drove straight through. Was a ton of fun. Although, we had our butts handed to us in the tourney, but that's alright. Was a great experience and everyone we played was great to drink with after.

Well I just topped my own trip to Amsterdam. Got the huge honour of being the equipment guy today at the HHOF Oldtimers classic at the ACC along with another fellow MSH'er (Jason Harris). Can't get much better than that! No idea how to add pictures here...LOL

Lets see if this works??

Jeff was a sly devil, because while I was putting out water bottles for the players, I noticed he was holding fort in Pierre Maguire's nook between the benches.

I was mostly in the locker room during the game, so I didn't have a chance to see, but were you able to watch the game from the same spot? If so, I'm helping you next year!

Not as epic as some of these, but probably one of the funnest.

Was in Grade 11 and for High School hockey provincials (same as state championships) we rented a huge luxury bus for the 8 hour drive. Watched Don Cherry's hockey the entire way, our bus driver was insane and even went through a Tim Horton's drive-thru in the bus, we had people stopping their cars to take pictures.

Stayed in a pretty crappy hotel and just stayed up and played NHL every night. We were suppose to be in bed before 11 the night before the championship game, but we were still up at 1am, so we hear a knock at our door, my buddy answers, it's our coach. We're all scared as I don't know what. He doesn't say anything, he just comes in, fairly drunk, eats a veggie sub from Subway and then just walks out. That was it. So funny.

Then we woke up the next day and won, just to top it off.
