Elbow Pad Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I have a pair of sami pahlssons RBK 7K PRO, probably the best elbow pads I've ever used. I know a handful of nhlers use them, but they're hard to find. nexus 1000?

I've played 2 games in my new Warrior Franchise elbows & I love them so far. I had old, old Jofa 8077s & the Warriors seem way more mobile (may be the 3-piece design) & the elbow cap seems a bit lower profile (so its not catching on my jersey). I don't think I've sacrificed protection either, although I haven't really taken a fall on the new ones yet. The Silver Shield liner was also a large selling point for me. The Franchises appear to be on sale at a couple of online stores as well, if that helps.

Iv tried on a bunch of large size elbow pads, but i guess my forearm is so fat that it the Large sizes are still really tight or the Forearm strap cant reach the other side. I know that once they break in then they will feel better. The ones that Ive tried that i can tolerate for now would be the Bauer Nexus 600 or the Supreme One60. I haven't been able to try on any Reebok XL sizes yet because my LHS doesn't carry any XL in stock regularly. I was wondering how the Reebok's fit compared to a Bauer Nexus 600 or One60 pad.

When it was time for me to upgrade, I ended up in the Reebok 6K. This was maybe two years ago.they look like this:

Very happy with them. Zero slippage (I wear a Tshirt so they're right on my skin). Very comfortable and very protective. Highly recommended.

CCM U+ CL or Warrior Franchise. The CCM U+ CL elbow pads are my personal favorite. I have last years' model (red and white). I don't care much for the newer black look, but I guess they are the same elbow pads.. I just like my red and white ones. The main thing I like about this elbow pad is that its 3 pieces, not the normal 2-pieces...so there is a forearm piece, an elbow piece, and a bicep piece. The Warrior Franchise elbow pads have the same concept as the CCM U+ CL...3 pieces gives you more mobility. Believe it or not, I've found that sizing up a size helps with slippage. I noticed with older pads, it didn't matter how tight i wore them, they slipped, but sizing up to an XL, has prevented mine from slipping. You don't want them excessively big obviously...but getting a pad that your elbow really sinks back into will help...sometimes that s just a sizing issue. The other thing I do for slippage is that I always wear the shockdoctor shockskin undershirt which has some stretch zones on the forearm for folding back over your elbow pads....I can actually wear the pads somewhat loose and still have no slippage.

Uh, not really the same at all. Similar design maybe, but nowhere close to the same.

Well that sucks... well if anyone finds a pair of the previous year's top end U+ model floating around they are the best I've personally used so far. I would be interested to try the Franchise though...I've tried them on, but never owned a pair.

Easton elbow pads are often overlooked but I'd say they have probably made the best two-piece and three-piece elbow pad for a while, at least for me. Right now I'm using Easton 700 "NHL", I have two pairs and I don't think I'll ever use another elbow pad.

I like Bauer's also but the double "lobed" bicep pad bothers me. I've had issue with CCM's durability and my old Jofa's used to slide a lot and pool with sweat. My Eastons don't move at ALL, they barely feel like I'm even wearing elbows and they have a channel for sweat.

it looks like easton is finally releasing those to the public in the EQ PRO line of protection. Nice to see you back TBLFan, it's been a while.

These are amazing elbow pads. I have some as well and they're the best I've used.

I'm glad they decided to. I think mine will need an upgrade by then!

I've used a lot of elbow pads and yeah they're my favorite but I don't want to gloss over the fact that the Easton 3-piece elbow is also pretty darn good...It's also basically remained the same since the S9(possibly earlier) so you might be able to find old stock for cheap. Their high end 2-piece elbow locks in as nice as the 700 NHL but is a bit bulkier, imo. BUT again, it's been a similar design at the retail level for quite some time so you can probably find some older stock for a pretty good price.
