My Visor has developed a yellow tint?!

Recommended Posts

I have a cheap Clear HockeyTron AntiFog AntiScratch visor and i noticed it has developed a yellow/brown tint?

Is this due to sweat or a build of of Anti Fog spray? It is really pissing me off because i notice it all the time now when im on the ice.

How long have you been using it? If you've got a good amount of use out of it, why not pick up a new one? They're $20 and Tron has 30% off everything right now.

Only had it about 2 weeks not even a scratch on it!

Does the visor feel like it has a film on it when you run your finger across it? How are you storing it after games?

Just feels smooth like it always did. I clean it before and after every game and always put my helmet in a helmet bag.

I'm not a chemistry expert but depending on what it's made out of, there are plastics that yellow over time. Might be part of the reason why it's so much less than an Oakley.

Looked at some reviews on them and nothing like this seem to happen i have a Hedjuk ProLine that i usually use but its pretty beat to hell so i just bought this Tron one to do me for a little while but its only had 3 or 4 games and not even a scratch on it seems odd how its turned out like this!

Yeah my experience with products yellowing is with house paints. Typically lower quality oil paint will yellow with out presence of UV light. But the yellowing is process that happens over a time period not quick like you describe, but then again different products.... Just my guess.

Hmm you might be right actually.... I know things do it over time but like you said different product and it is a really cheap visor after all. Im not too bummed about it i just really want to know what caused it and if i can get rid of it.
