One eyelet down on Grafs?

Recommended Posts

Picked up a pair of Graf Ultra G3S yesterday and have a question. I normally wearing my skates laced up to the 2nd to last eyelet. Will lacing my new grafs up with one less eyelet make the breakin period longer/ tougher? Is there a reason I need to lace them all the way to the top? I like my ankles to have a little movement and if I lace them all the way up, I feel like I'm skating with clubs.

I had a pair of Nike Quest that I laced one eyelet down but when I had a pair of Graf I tried it one down a few times, but eventually went all the way up with no problems.

The were worn Nikes one eyelt down because the skate would rub my shin uncomfortably.

I wear my G75's an eyelet down and wore 707's an eylet down for years, very comfortable. Tons of ankle flex and freedom of movement. Give it a shot.

When I wore Graf or Mission I laced up all the way due to the fact that they are lower than any other boot out there. I also wore one size up in shinpads for them too.

Yeah, I've never been able to skip the top eyelet on Graf because there isn't enough support. In fact, their low-cut design doesn't work for me whatsoever.

I always laced my Grafs all the way up. Between the pitch and the low-cut, lacing down wasn't necessary. When I moved to X60's, I laced down because I was so used to the Grafs.

One down on Grafs for me, first 705s, now G75s... all the mobility you could ask for. I've got to really crank down on the last 2 eyelets on the ankle for it to work though, i use waxed laces, and tape them down as well.
