Online shop that will install heel lifts

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

does anybody know of an online store that can install heel lifts before shipping them out? I have made the decision of moving out of my Vapors into a Supreme, but I want the Vapor feel, and according to what people say, a 3mm heel lift should resolve that.

Where I come, there isn't a possibility to get this done.

Thank!

I'd rather recommend to get a tall step steel runner and have it profiled in a more agressive stance..

I worry though that I'd have to re-profile them often, meaning that I will probably have to ship the runners halfway across the world. There are no sharpeners here that can do profiling.

its not the best solution but getting the skates and sending them to a place like peaches or georges... Or calling them a head and explaining the situation and maybe you can have the online place ship them there and then have those guys ship them to you.

I'm unfamiliar with the shops you mention. Do you refer to: http://www.hockeyrepair.com/ and http://www.peachesprorepair.com/ ?

Interesting, I did not know most shops do not do heel lifts. I assumed this was something that was available over there.

Cool. Too bad it hasn't caught on on a larger scale, I think most people could benefit from this.

If I can't get the heel lifts installed onto the Supremes (and I'm not so keen on getting my blades profiled), what skate would be more forward-pitched like the Vapors that fit deeper?

That was because of the nike and orginal new style supreme skates if I remember way back then correctly. I think it would be good to know what your skating style is instead of just trying to mimic your old skates there may be a easier solution that you might be able to get down there? (Not knowing the shop's there).

Think of it this way. If you would have to reprofile them often, then that means your stock radius would have to be reprofiled as well. Putting lifts in doesn't prevent a bad sharpener from offseting the lifts effect. What if your bad sharpener takes too much off the heel? Then those lifs aren't doing what you think they are doing.

look man by no means am i an expert on this but i did just get a pair of the new supreme 1.6's and if you ask me they force you into a pretty aggressive stance anyway. keep in mind im coming off of a pair of 5 year old stealths and my last pair before that was a pair of supremes from the late 1980s that had icms on them. so i guess what im sayin is the supremes might work for you the way they are

I'd honestly suggest getting the Supremes and skating on them a few times before assuming that you need heel lifts right off the go...

Or try something like a pair of Superfeet insoles rather than modifying the boot right away.

Superfeet Yellow will definately "jack" your heels... You'll really notice it AFTER you've broken in skates because the ankle dents will be lower than before the superfeet...

Or just put a 3mm lift under the insole just like Easton does.

That way you can remove it easily if you find its not necessary

Correct, and cheaper too.

That sounds like a plan. What can I use to make these lifts? Is there a specific science to this?

No science, pretty much anything that will lift your heel the desired amount will work. I've used some rubber sheet that I found at my hardware store, because it doesn't soak up sweat, & had a slight cushioning effect. The Easton ones are hard plastic. You can use something like 2-sided tape to attach it to the bottom of the footbed if necessary.

No, but 3mm is not the only choice. That may be too much for you or not enough, everyone is different. Expirement and see which you like best.
