PSA: apx stick warranty

Recommended Posts

Recently sent in ny snapped apx for a warranty replacement from Bauer. I got back a nexus 1000. I decided to sell the stick so it doesn't bother me that much but it may be for some of you guys. A low kick, very small profile shaft stick traded for a square shouldered mid kicker to me is a bit of a change. Not sure if they were just out or whatever but that's what I got this past week.

They likely wanted to get you a stick back ASAP. My assumption would be that they didn't have the APX in your hand/curve/flex, but did have a N1000.

Of course, you know what they say about assumptions...

Same thing just happened to me. I was a bit bummed so I made them give me a full explanation.

The reason is they basically have no inventory of APX sticks (and they aren't making more) since its being discontinued for the APX2 which isn't released until September I believe. In a nutshell they stopped manufacturing them to manufacture the APX2 but it is too early for them to send you one of those.

So be forewarned, if you buy an APX and break it...you wont be getting one back. Or if you really love the APX, go buy a few.

I agree that they are probably trying to process the replacement for you ASAP. If you check their stick warranty page online, they do reserve the right to substitute if the requested model is not available. I usually get back exactly what I send in, but I just returned a broken Nexus 1000 non-grip and got back a TotalOne NXG GripTac. Great turn-around time, but now I have to sell it. I would have been willing to wait much longer for the exact replacement, but I didn't specify that. Not sure if they would have honored my request.

That's funny bc they're giving apx guys nexus 1000 but won't give nexus guys a nexus.

But u do think the nexus and nxg are pretty close. The difference is the blade if I'm correct.

They have different flex profiles

They tried giving me an NXG but i specifically requested a Nexus.

Was your Nexus an uncommon curve or a 95 flex or something?

You got it. P92 Lie 5 (P92L)

Your "PSA" is bogus, ....

excuse me but yes we all know what it says and things like this are usually when an older model gets subbed for a newer one <ie my widow got subbed for a dt1, coukdnt be happier) they also say same or equivalent so if they did send you a x2.0 I think there would be hell to pay in the hockey community for them to explain how they're equivalent.

But this is a HEADS UP to those who may be thinking they will get an APX back that there is a big chance you'll get a nexus. The nexus, imho, is a big change up from the apx for the kick point alone let alone the other differences.

Sorry junkyard if it seems I'm "coming at you" with this response, I just mean to set the record straight with this post. Though I admitwhen people call things iI post bogus it does rub a sore spot. Once again I think people should be informed, not a knock on Bauer either, just some info.

Your "PSA" is bogus, simply for the fact that Bauer specifically covers the situation on their stick warranty page...

"BAUER reserves the right to substitute if the requested model is not available."

So in essence, they could have sent you a Vapor X 2.0, but, they didn't. They sent you another high end stick as the "available replacement."

Was that really necessary? Take it easy... no need to flame the guy when he comes with good intentions.

Had this happened to me last year. Broke a T1 right before they rolled out the T1 NXG and received a Nexus back. Same pattern and flex. At first I was bummed but then I grew to really like the Nexus. Although the change from amplified midkick to true midkick between T1 and Nexus is less drastic than the flex profiles of Nexus and APX.

The vast majority of people don't read every detail of the warranty and replacement procedures. A topic like this is a good way to make sure more people know.

For something like an LE product, it's likely done in one shipment and not in continuous production. Even with current retail product, they won't continue full scale production for the full product year.
