Skate length difference between E a D width in Bauer, CCm and Reebok

Recommended Posts

Hey All,

Can some one tell me what the length difference between E and D width skates are in Bauer, Ccm and Reebok skates?

I came across an Rbz skate fit guide on this site that suggested that there is a 1/4 to 1/2 length difference between widths.

Thanks

Im no expert but that much (im guessing in inches) seems excessive especially when its a width difference not a size difference.

Yeah I would like someone in the biz to let us know which brands are for sure a 1/2 or 1/4 size difference.

I don't want specific measurements in mm or inches :)

I would also like to know how heel width changes with width changes as well.

Rummaged thru my lhs and looked at a range of Bauer skates. E is between 1mm - 2mm longer than a D, it varies across ranges (Supreme, Vapor, Nexus). The heel widths within each range were very close (using the footbeds as the measure).

Will try and look at Rbk and CCM over the next few days.

Never, ever follow any guide.

This, a thousand times this.

There is a slight bit of added length, a couple MM at most.

1/4 size is a couple mm, so I guess there can be a 1/4 size length difference between D and E like giogolf's guide suggests.

Thanks Chadd, I learned very fast on this site not to go by guides and or advertised info when it comes to skate fitting :)

I am just trying to get after the facts that the manufacturers and some of the more knowledgeable people here know about skates sizes and how they are designed.

I just really want to know, by manufacturer is there an actual difference in length from wide and regular widths? Also, how much does the heel open up when you increase the width?

When I contacted Graf, they were very specific with there sizing when I asked about toe width and heel width relationship and length. For example, I though the G70 was the holy grail for me in that its deep and comes in a wide+ however, I come to realize after trying it on the heel was huge. Graf told me that the heel width will go from an AA to A to B etc.. as the toe width increases. Also, the length is different between wide and regular by a 1/4 size in Graf.

Ultimately I need to get custom fit skates as my current skates Nexus 800 are almost perfect in a 7EE but the heel lock isnt that great and I need a deeper ankle pocket as my inner ankle bone is close to the eyelets . What I really need is a 7 1/4 EE/A Left skate and 7EE/A Right skate, both with +4mm length in the 1-3 eyelets . By understanding how skates differ with different sizes and widths can help everyone here, I think.

Thanks

That's very specific to brand and shoes size. So for example there is quite a huge of a difference between a Bauer Vapor 7,5D and 7,5E (about 1/2 inch). That's also the transition I get used to now with my new APX2 skates coming from a 7,5D ... the 1/2 inch longer skate blade really makes a difference in transfering power to your stride. But once again - it's not just about blade length - it's about getting a snug yet comfortable fit on your skates and skate blade that matches your type of play.

I can see this in Bauer, as in my Nexus 800 7EE I brush the toe and in the same boot in 7.5D I feather the toe. I am curious now how CCM and Reebok differ in lengths between widths.

I am not so concerned with runner lengths with different widths and lengths, but thanks
