Which NHL'ers in Europe are having good years?

Recommended Posts

Two days ago, my local pro team played the Hannover Scorpions who have Paul Mara in their lineup (I must have forgotten him last time I summed it up).

Mara sucks beyond belief. He is 15G 0G 3A 3P 59PM -7. He looked pretty fat (double-chin) and out-of-shape.

And John Tripp spent some time in a blueshirt. No surprise that he sucks. I think he racked up some goals in the AHL, and that is what he probably is. Career AHL'er.

lol...I was so glad when I heard the Kings and him parted ways. He's awful.

I was in Prague for a few days this weekend, and I saw Sparta play Kladno at the T-Mobile Arena. Kladno had both the Kaberle's playing, who looked okay (aside from a dumb checking-from-behind penalty on Tomas), and Sparta had Hlavac, Nedved, Vyborny and Majesky.

I've never really seen "proper" NHLers before, and the speed of the game was a step up from what I'm used to, but it was awesome! :D There was some decent hitting, though it wasn't too physical, but some of the moves the guys pulled were absolutely mind blowing.....

Well Mr Simpson is doin a solid job with his brother in the Danish top league!

The NHLers over here in the UK like someone has said before don't seem to be playing at full pelt.

but The NHLers over in the Slovakian top league seem to be chuffin amazing! i'm going over again to watch them in 2 weeks and Mr Bondra is close to signing with Poprad so should be good but they all seem to be racking up the points easily! so there you go... i guess some of the NHLers just ain't used to the bigger rinks, style and speed over here in Europe and i must say it is deffinatly the North American born NHLers who are playing the worst so maybe that tells you something...OR maybe it doesn't lol

Joe Thronton, Rick Nash, Ricahrds (before injury), Mark Bell in the Swedish League.... all aren't doing badly at all.

I think the grinder types aren't doing so well on the big ice cos they can't grab hold of the skill full players and spoil the game. Take notice NHL, big ice + no red line = more room for skill players = more entertaining hockey.

All the goons like Belak are doing great in the UK due to the diabolical refs and north american sized ice. . . . . we are supposed to have a wage cap but it's a case of $15,000 to play and $30,000 to "wash players cars" or "do the owners weekly shopping"!!!!! So don't worry MR Guerin, there's a brown paper bag with your name on it.

Havlat (stinks! this season- only 2 goals on his account with one being a tap-in from great setup by Datsyuk), Elias (only appeared 2-3 weeks ago, looks good, but the best player by far on his Metalurg team is still Alexei Kaigorodov- lovely player), Sikora (also in metalurg, has not looked that sharp or "world class" really, like Havlat still shoots "from anywhere" ala NHL which in this league simply gives the puck away to the other team a lot), Lecavalier (sometimes ok, more often looks lost, never (at least in my eyes) brilliant or dominant), Jagr(no complaints, the only superstar whos perforemed to his billing- awesome player playing great), Rosa (czech guy who somehow is still the top scorer in RSL, no idea how he 's done it really, looks very average an a powerful Dynamo team).

Bell is playing in Sweden, that was how it was written. Richards was in Russia but couldn't get used to vodka on his cornflakes, think he got a groin injury!

Seen Mike York also one of the top scorers in Germany.

We just have the pleasure of watching Steve Mckenna......wow.... in fairness how a man that tall can skate at all with out getting a nose bleed from being so high up is quite remarkable

Yeah, I've seen Rosa playing couple of games and like you said, I don't know how he can be the first scorer in this league...Maybe he's playing on a line with 2 Datsyuk. ;)

Or maybe just has that great sense of where to be around the net....

And he doesn't have to pay a price to be in those areas like he did in the NHL-AHL.

Maybe... Although I think he's more like Tsyplakov in the NHL a few years back- had an amzing scoring streak, but then his production has tailed off... But then again I can't really knock a player I've only seen playing about 3 times- maybe he is a good player... But at the moment he does NOT look good enough to be in that position -joint point leader with Kaigorodov(don't think anybody would question this guy's right to be there;))

not really related, but does anyone know why Thornton went nutty there and hammered that goalie in the back of the head? He's suspended for 4 games incase anyone missed it.

We had 3 NHL players this season at Nottingham for the Panthers

Steve McKenna - Never really showed his physical side until the play-offs where he started to show us what he could do.

Nick Boynton - Only signed for us in January but was a class act every game. Showed why he was selected as an All-star.

Ian Moran - Looked impressive. Had a solid last few months

All the players really stepped up their game for the play-offs where we were unlucky to lose the grand slam winners Coventry

yh all the player who came over here to the UK did wonders for thier teams the racers got a huge boost from scott nicholl and eric cairns bringing them from by far the lowest team in the league to among the best. But Coventry and Nottingham benefited most from this getting belak, boynton, Moran and mckenna

Eric Cairns - similar to Belak, but apparently playing well. Still not a great skater, but he's been solid, and a great influence in London's locker room, so I'm told.

Was Eric Cairns not throwen out of the ELITE league for attacking an offical?

Yeah I seen pictures of Belak and Cairns fighting that night he attacked the ref, Jes what a fight, but Tony Hand(Giants coach) has had Angelstad on a very short leash, ive seen Angelstad fight twice the whole 04-05 season against Carins and Nichol which is pretty crap! What team do you support Luke? <_<
